Evaluation of my results 10 months post surgery

Hello lovely ladies.
I had my follow up last week. It was a 10 minutes meeting with the surgeon. He just checked the scars in the back of the ears (those are for the neck). They still haven’t completely flattened and they feel tender when I press on them. He recommended I continue to massage them.
For the neck he said that even if he does a revision it wouldn’t make a big difference! He demonstrated this by pulling the skin of the neck. Again he mentioned the lipodissolve and said he would inject very little. I told him my concern is not fat but sagging skin and prominent neck bands. He said lipodissolve might improve it! I find that very vague statement! He said the swelling from lipodissolve lasts for 2 weeks. From my experience these surgeons always don’t tell you the truth. I read on rs that the swelling from lipodissolve is tremendous. I would be naïve if I take a risk and do lipodissolve.
The office staff told me that they do fillers for neck bands but I was not willing to pay $590. I was very disappointed in the results and the fact that he said revision won’t help.
I believe that the surgery didn’t deliver the neck results I was seeking. As you can see from the before photos I didn’t have a lot fat or sagging skin in my neck. I really don’t understand why I didn’t get a smooth neck. It might be the technique he used but I’m not a doctor so really not sure. I thought if he was willing to revise the neck he should be able to improve it. He actually acknowledged that the results are not perfect but said I should enjoy what I got and then in 5 years I can have another procedure. I find it weird that he told me prior to surgery that results should last 10 years! Well even if I decide to have a revision I’m not going back to him.
By the way I already consulted another surgeon in my area about the neck and he agreed with me that I should have had better results. But he doesn’t recommend revision right now because this will just create more scar tissues and said I should give it a couple of years before I consider revision. I think it’s a good plan for me as I can't afford another procedure right now.
Ladies: has anyone had the filler in the neck to smooth the horizontal bands? I heard about botox to minimize the bands. But I don’t like to use botox in the neck as I’m concerned that it might affect the ability to swallow.
Rating of results:
Neck I would give it a C only because there is only little improvement.
Eyes: I had a pinch skin procedure so he removed a bit of skin but didn’t remove or redistribute the fat. I still have extra skin and now I noticed I have more eye bags especially when I smile. I asked the surgeon that I consulted for the neck to do filler in tear troughs but he said it would just make my eyes puffy because the fat needed to be removed during the procedure.
I would give the eyes C+.
Face: There is some improvement but everyday I notice some sagging. The skin on the left side has started to loosen up. God knows if the results would last long. Btw I had fillers in the laugh lines and cheeks by another surgeon. I plan to post a separate review soon.
Face results B.
Overall I am not sure if the results were worth 10k and 2 weeks of time off!!

It’s just amazing how your ps was very dismissive about your concerns. Honestly the neck bands are still there, not as pronounced as before, but obvious!! I see what you’re referring to with the eyes. Just curious, did you review all of his work before you vested your time and money with this man? I had Botox on my neck bands and it really does help!! But, ten months after a lift you shouldn’t have to be doing Botox! I understand how you feel, I had a facelift only 4 1/2 years ago, and I’m in need of another facelift. My ps said it should last ten years????!!!!’ On the positive side... you do look younger and refreshed!!!!! And, Beautiful!!

Yep very dismissive. Honestly I was shocked how dismissive he was the first time I mentioned the neck concerns. I had to email his assistant and tell her to convey my concerns to him even though I had already talked to him but he would just not listen to me! He only had one review here with photos and the lady was very happy with her results but when I PM her she never responded. I think she was not checking the site any more. But he had lots of 5- star reviews on Google and now I believe that those were fake reviews. Thank for the compliments. I just had Juvederm in the laugh lines and some Voluma on the cheeks by a different surgeon whom I consulted for the face/neck lift prior to my surgery and I wish I had gone to him. He was more expensive because he uses general and perform the surgery at a hospital. I agree it is crazy to get botox/filler after 10 months post surgery. Thanks.

Are you still bruised in these pictures? Your cheeks look perfect! How many syringes of Voluma did he use on your cheeks? Can I ask you how much you paid? Are you happy with the Juvederm? One syringe? You look lovely, and definitely more youthful than before. Your skin looks very nice in these photos

So I had the fillers last Wednesday and I'm wearing a light foundation in these photos as I am at work today. I bruised on the right nasolabial and very little on the cheeks and it could be easily covered with makeup. He used one syringe of Juvederm for the nasolabial and one syringe of Voluma for the cheeks. He is very conservative and I think I need more on the cheeks. A syringe of Voluma or Jevederm is $750 so total $1500. Voluma lasts two years. I had restylane in the past in the nasolabia and I like the Juvederm better. It might also has to do with the injector! Thanks for the compliment. I had two treatments of PRP last November and then in April. I think it helped but I would like now to do glycolic acid treatments.

That’s what I pay for Juvederm. I’m having my third (!!) syringe next week. My cheeks were deflated. I’m thinking it could have been caused by the Erbium laser. I think that the look of high cheekbones are very feminine and softening on the face. I bruise too on my face after fillers. Yes, your skin looks lovely! Do you tell people your age?

Thanks dear. Yeah it has made a difference for me. I will have alittle more added next month. Today my colleague at work commented I looked rested. Usually I don't tell my age unless I had to like at the doctor's office

That’s the best compliment..looking rested. You don’t want to look “done”! You’ll have to post an update on your next syringe of Juvederm. I can feel the actual fillers in my cheeks.

Thanks my friend. I will post a review for the fillers. Restylane felt bumpy on laugh lines but I did it with a different doctor a couple of years ago.

Very little bruises in the cheecks. I bruised more on the right side of the laugh line where he used juvaderm. I hope your procedure went well.

It sure sounds like something I should consider. I just spent $3,000 on Juvederm which will probably last me a year:-( How much was the cheek implants, if I may ask you?
July 4, 2019
I had them done years ago and paid 3500. I'm sure they're more now. I had a doctor in Birmingham, Al do them. He's a wonderful surgeon!!

Could you imagine.... I paid almost the same price and this will probably dissipate next year. Have you noticed any “deflation “ at all years later??
June 15, 2019
Get a refund. He couldn't get it right the first time. DON'T keep going back. If 3 other PS Said to me that a revision is all that would make it look correct then I wouldn't let the original doctor talk you into anything else. By the way everything looks great except for the neck
User Avatar

Thanks beautiful824 for tge advice. I am not going back to him. I want to ask for a refund for the neck but I don't think he would refund me. I can try.

June 16, 2019
I agree that I would not go back to the doctor that did your original surgery. Based on what I've read from others, the PS usually does not get better and sometimes worse. Good luck and I still think you are beautiful!
User Avatar
June 17, 2019
Thanks Ifano. I absolutely agree with you. If he couldn't get it right the first time then he wouldn't be able to make it better the second time around. I will wait and in a couple of years I will have a revision.

I agree with you ladies. I just wouldn’t want to subject myself to having another dissatisfied surgery with the same ps. If he wasn’t able to tighten your neck accordingly to your standards, then why waste your time on the rebound. You do look just beautiful, but I totally can commiserate with you on the neck issue. Hugs. Hugs. Hugs.

You gorgeous though I hope you know. I know I would choose a new doctor for a revision. I agree with that. If you aren’t happy and this doctor just dismissed your concerns I would never return. So sad to spend the money and be unhappy. So hard.

I know what your feeling! Read my update on my neck revision, I just posted ! Still have some bands but doctor injected (free of charge) with Juvneau (just like botox but supposed to be cheaper) he inject all over my neck, like 40 units.... its been 2 days and I 'am waiting on the results, if they work or not. But he basically told me that I'am as tight as I can get and that I'am just a thinned skinned skinny neck gal and every muscle is going to show through. The third revision looks better but the band still show but not near as bad, regardless, I don't have money or go one anymore......I'll just deal with them the way they are and maybe 5 to 7 years from now I'll do again....maybe!

Hi goldenmimi. I hope you like the results of the botox. I checked your photos and think your neck looks much better than mine. We're almost tge same age :). I think for now I will have to wait a couple of years tgen find a skilled surgeon to do a revision. I have seen much worse necks and amazing results after. We're just not that lucky unfortunately. It's so frustrating to spend all that money for zero results.
User Avatar
July 4, 2019
The results on my injections so far are not working, the bands are still present. Yes, they are better but still there and I don't really like them, but I try not to focus on them anymore and just look at the whole picture of my face. Like you, I might consider a revision several years from now, maybe closer to 60 or after 60, which will only be 4 years!!! YICKS!! hard to believe! I to have seen much worse necks and very smooth outcomes....I guess we are the unlucky ones.....and me twice unlucky!

Update regarding neck

User Avatar
romansica
Hi friends. So, I communicated with my surgeon regarding the neck. He suggested that I do Lipodissolve and he will do it at no cost to me. This is the first time I heard about this procedure so I checked RS for information. From its name I thought why would I want to do this as I do not have fat in the neck area. Just to be on the safe side I asked RS doctors and I'm glad I did. So far I got 3 doctors saying I would need a neck revision to get the best results. In fact one doctor said Lipodissolve could easily make matters worse! I just do not understand why my doctor thinks that Lipodissolve will correct the problems I'm having. Btw this procedure is not FDA approved and I read mixed reviews about it. Patients had enormous amount of swelling after the procedure.

I let my doctor's office know that I am not interested in Lipodissolve and I explained why. I will see if he is willing to revise his work. Otherwise I will request a refund.

I would like also to get a second opinion so I scheduled an appointment next month.

Has anyone done Lipodissolve? Please let me know. Thanks

I have not heard of Lipodissolve but if you don't have a lot of fat on your neck, why would he want to do that?? Good thing you did your research and let him know that your are not interested.
User Avatar
May 18, 2019
I find it weird too that he wants me to do lipodissolve. I have no fat in my neck. Here on RS lipodissolve has a low rating. I am glad I declined to do it ☺
June 6, 2019
Sorry to see the issues you've reported with your neck after such great results earlier on - it's a shame as I think the rest looks fantastic and he's given a beautiful lady a beautiful result, so it would be great to hear not too far from now that he was able to correct the neck issue for you so you can at last say it was 100% worth it!

I think you're right to decline any treatment that may reduce fat in your neck and would insist on the revision recommended by other surgeons - 9 months post-surgery seems long enough to have waited for everything to settle to move forward with a neck revision sooner now rather than later, and hopefully your surgeon will understand that it's how such issues are responded to and dealt with that makes a surgeon either one to recommend or one to avoid! Fingers crossed for you.
User Avatar
June 10, 2019
Hi Chrustaple. Thanks for the comments. I agree with you at this point my results have settled and I don't have swelling anymore. The surgeon actually said revision won't improve things much and again recommended lipodissolve! Weird recommendation. I just updated the post in details.

Hi CdOsmond. Thanks for your comment. Not sure if I responded to you. I agree it's not bad and not worse than before but I am not fully satisfied and after spending 20k I thought I would.
June 19, 2019
I stumbled upon this as I'm considering a lower face lift because of loose skin from trying lipodissolve. It helped a lot for my double chin but before I had it done I brought up my concern that I'd be replacing my fat issue with another problem. What would happen to the skin i the fat wasn't behind it? I ask if I'd have excess skin left. He assured me that I wouldn't because the solution irritates the area while it's dissolving the fat and therefore would increase collagen and that would tighten up the skin as well as get rid of the excess fat. Well, he was right about the irritation as I swelled up like a balloon, a small price to pay for loosing a double chin, but he was wrong about the loose skin. I was happy about the results for about 6 months. It even made me look like I lost weight but after about a year I started noticing jowls and sagging skin. Now it's 2 years later and I have a ton of loose skin where the fat was under my chin and at the top of my neck. I think I look worse now and definitely older. We are always our worst critic so I want to tell you I think you look beautiful. I'm not a doctor but from my own experience I would not recommend the lippodissolve from looking at your photos. It works okay for a temporary minimally invasive procedure for a double chin due to excess fat but I don't think you have a double chin or much fat. I just wanted to let you know what could happen with the procedure. I'd also like to thank you so much for putting yourself out there to help the rest of us see real results and help us decide about available procedures. I honestly think you had great results and your neck really isn't that bad considering all the other benefits you gained. Again, I think you look great! Best wishes.

I am sorry to hear about your neck and loose skin. I thought it was weird that he offered to do lipodissolve for me. From the beginning without even researching I knew it wasn't for me as the name implied fat and that's not my concern. Thanks so much for your comment and advice. I wish you all the best.
