Evaluation of my results 10 months post surgery

Hello lovely ladies.
I had my follow up last week. It was a 10 minutes meeting with the surgeon. He just checked the scars in the back of the ears (those are for the neck). They still haven’t completely flattened and they feel tender when I press on them. He recommended I continue to massage them.
For the neck he said that even if he does a revision it wouldn’t make a big difference! He demonstrated this by pulling the skin of the neck. Again he mentioned the lipodissolve and said he would inject very little. I told him my concern is not fat but sagging skin and prominent neck bands. He said lipodissolve might improve it! I find that very vague statement! He said the swelling from lipodissolve lasts for 2 weeks. From my experience these surgeons always don’t tell you the truth. I read on rs that the swelling from lipodissolve is tremendous. I would be naïve if I take a risk and do lipodissolve.
The office staff told me that they do fillers for neck bands but I was not willing to pay $590. I was very disappointed in the results and the fact that he said revision won’t help.
I believe that the surgery didn’t deliver the neck results I was seeking. As you can see from the before photos I didn’t have a lot fat or sagging skin in my neck. I really don’t understand why I didn’t get a smooth neck. It might be the technique he used but I’m not a doctor so really not sure. I thought if he was willing to revise the neck he should be able to improve it. He actually acknowledged that the results are not perfect but said I should enjoy what I got and then in 5 years I can have another procedure. I find it weird that he told me prior to surgery that results should last 10 years! Well even if I decide to have a revision I’m not going back to him.
By the way I already consulted another surgeon in my area about the neck and he agreed with me that I should have had better results. But he doesn’t recommend revision right now because this will just create more scar tissues and said I should give it a couple of years before I consider revision. I think it’s a good plan for me as I can't afford another procedure right now.
Ladies: has anyone had the filler in the neck to smooth the horizontal bands? I heard about botox to minimize the bands. But I don’t like to use botox in the neck as I’m concerned that it might affect the ability to swallow.
Rating of results:
Neck I would give it a C only because there is only little improvement.
Eyes: I had a pinch skin procedure so he removed a bit of skin but didn’t remove or redistribute the fat. I still have extra skin and now I noticed I have more eye bags especially when I smile. I asked the surgeon that I consulted for the neck to do filler in tear troughs but he said it would just make my eyes puffy because the fat needed to be removed during the procedure.
I would give the eyes C+.
Face: There is some improvement but everyday I notice some sagging. The skin on the left side has started to loosen up. God knows if the results would last long. Btw I had fillers in the laugh lines and cheeks by another surgeon. I plan to post a separate review soon.
Face results B.
Overall I am not sure if the results were worth 10k and 2 weeks of time off!!

Good luck, hopefully he'll offer a better solution to fix your neck. I just had my revision this week and it's looking better but still can see some bands, it to early to tell with swelling and bruising but hopefully it will improve. Keep us posted on your appointment and good luck!

Hi goldenmimi. I hope so too. My neck is starting to look exactly the way it was pre surgery. I hope you will be happy with your neck.

romansica - right now my neck doesn't look much better, I'am starting to get a little worried. I'am hoping what I see is just swelling and it'll get better with time.

Update regarding neck
Hi friends. So, I communicated with my surgeon regarding the neck. He suggested that I do Lipodissolve and he will do it at no cost to me. This is the first time I heard about this procedure so I checked RS for information. From its name I thought why would I want to do this as I do not have fat in the neck area. Just to be on the safe side I asked RS doctors and I'm glad I did. So far I got 3 doctors saying I would need a neck revision to get the best results. In fact one doctor said Lipodissolve could easily make matters worse! I just do not understand why my doctor thinks that Lipodissolve will correct the problems I'm having. Btw this procedure is not FDA approved and I read mixed reviews about it. Patients had enormous amount of swelling after the procedure.
I let my doctor's office know that I am not interested in Lipodissolve and I explained why. I will see if he is willing to revise his work. Otherwise I will request a refund.
I would like also to get a second opinion so I scheduled an appointment next month.
Has anyone done Lipodissolve? Please let me know. Thanks

I have not heard of Lipodissolve but if you don't have a lot of fat on your neck, why would he want to do that?? Good thing you did your research and let him know that your are not interested.

I find it weird too that he wants me to do lipodissolve. I have no fat in my neck. Here on RS lipodissolve has a low rating. I am glad I declined to do it ☺

Sorry to see the issues you've reported with your neck after such great results earlier on - it's a shame as I think the rest looks fantastic and he's given a beautiful lady a beautiful result, so it would be great to hear not too far from now that he was able to correct the neck issue for you so you can at last say it was 100% worth it!
I think you're right to decline any treatment that may reduce fat in your neck and would insist on the revision recommended by other surgeons - 9 months post-surgery seems long enough to have waited for everything to settle to move forward with a neck revision sooner now rather than later, and hopefully your surgeon will understand that it's how such issues are responded to and dealt with that makes a surgeon either one to recommend or one to avoid! Fingers crossed for you.

Hi Chrustaple. Thanks for the comments. I agree with you at this point my results have settled and I don't have swelling anymore. The surgeon actually said revision won't improve things much and again recommended lipodissolve! Weird recommendation. I just updated the post in details.

Hi CdOsmond. Thanks for your comment. Not sure if I responded to you. I agree it's not bad and not worse than before but I am not fully satisfied and after spending 20k I thought I would.

I stumbled upon this as I'm considering a lower face lift because of loose skin from trying lipodissolve. It helped a lot for my double chin but before I had it done I brought up my concern that I'd be replacing my fat issue with another problem. What would happen to the skin i the fat wasn't behind it? I ask if I'd have excess skin left. He assured me that I wouldn't because the solution irritates the area while it's dissolving the fat and therefore would increase collagen and that would tighten up the skin as well as get rid of the excess fat. Well, he was right about the irritation as I swelled up like a balloon, a small price to pay for loosing a double chin, but he was wrong about the loose skin. I was happy about the results for about 6 months. It even made me look like I lost weight but after about a year I started noticing jowls and sagging skin. Now it's 2 years later and I have a ton of loose skin where the fat was under my chin and at the top of my neck. I think I look worse now and definitely older. We are always our worst critic so I want to tell you I think you look beautiful. I'm not a doctor but from my own experience I would not recommend the lippodissolve from looking at your photos. It works okay for a temporary minimally invasive procedure for a double chin due to excess fat but I don't think you have a double chin or much fat. I just wanted to let you know what could happen with the procedure. I'd also like to thank you so much for putting yourself out there to help the rest of us see real results and help us decide about available procedures. I honestly think you had great results and your neck really isn't that bad considering all the other benefits you gained. Again, I think you look great! Best wishes.

I am sorry to hear about your neck and loose skin. I thought it was weird that he offered to do lipodissolve for me. From the beginning without even researching I knew it wasn't for me as the name implied fat and that's not my concern. Thanks so much for your comment and advice. I wish you all the best.
