FRAXEL LASER

It took me considerable time to save money ($3K)...

$3,000
It took me considerable time to save money ($3K) for my Fraxel Laser Treatments. Finally, I made the appointment and had a total of four (4) Fraxel treatments which were completed over a 4-month period. The treatment was for acne scarring. Was it worth it? Well, I just went to my dermatologist for a six month checkup and I didn't say anything about my Fraxel Treatments. As I finished my office visit the doctor asked me to wait because he had something for me to read. Returning to the room he handed me a pamphlet, "FRAXEL LASERS...THE NEWEST TREATMENT FOR FACIAL SCARS." As I looked at the pamphlet the doctor said, "I want you to read this over and honestly, I think you should consider this treatment for your face." He continued, "Clinically, I think it would do you wonders. Should you have any concerns or questions please call the office and I'd be glad to answer any questions you might have." I never told him that I had already spent $3K on Fraxel Laser Treatments, and he never commented that my skin looked better! I think there's an answer here as to whether or not it was worth it. Also, when I completed my final Fraxel treatment I had no return visits see the Plastic Surgeon. One last point, the office staff took pre-treatment photographs, but never took post-treatment photographs. I wonder why? I guess you only take post-op photos when you have success.

I wonder if maybe this dr's office isn't the best. I haven't had Fraxel yet, but I did try a lighter laser (yag or something like that). Before & after photos were taken & an appointment was made to check the results. Since that laser was so light, I didn't notice any difference (only had 3 treatments, 6 were recommended). I am considering trying the Fraxel since it is a deeper laser (more expensive too). Fraxel at the office that I plan to go to runs $1250 per session or $4000 for 4 sessions.
It definetly sounds like the Dr's office might not have been so great. You should have had photos taken at every visit and be able to ask for comparisons. I also wonder what strength your treatments were at. If they didn't use a depth of at least 45 (or so), I would imagine that it wouldn't effect the scars. I had a good friend go through 5 treatments and was with her most of the visits and she looks remarkable!
Thank you for your comments. I'm thinking about contacting the doctor's office and asking them about the lack of results. I know they told me that the results of Fraxel Laser treatments can take six (6) or so. That's because, according to the doctor, Fraxel actually encourages the growth of collegen and that will help fill in the scar site. I only met and saw the doctor once and that was during my first visit to his office. All Fraxel Laser treatments were administered by a Registered Nurse. She did me a favor though and gave me an additional laser treatment (not Fraxel) to my nose to remove some red spots. That seemed to work quite well. But I never saw a physician again for the remainder of my treatments. I had no post-treatment consultation with any doctor. I will check with his office about the results (or lack of results) and I'll ask what depth the Fraxel was set at? I didn't know they could set the depth...thanks for mentioning that to me. Thank you again for your comments and Good Luck with your treatments!
I went to many doctors and researched as much as I could about all the options to address my crows feet, craping under my eyes, early signs of sagging around my jaw line. All the doctors recommended Fraxel. None of the Doctors I saw suggested I would need more than 4 treatments. I think your doctor is trying to make extra money on you. Always ask how aggressive of a treatment they are going to give you. That's how I went from a depth of 50 to 63 on my second treatment today. I'm sure I will see great results. I saw nice results after the first treatment. For those of you paying $4000 for 4 treatments, I would fly to San Diego and get it done for $2900. Yes you have to pay for your flight, but you'll get a mini vacation as well as beautiful skin! Visit www.fox6.com to watch interview with doctors that do fraxel in the area. Also look at Fox's morning show with Christy Russo.
I am considering this treatment, so I checked out Fox6, searched for Fraxel and came up with nothing. San Diego would make a great escape from Sacramento. Any further leads?
