The Right Doctor
I choose Dr. Beck because of his excellent bedside manner, depth of experience and strong desire for the best outcome for his patients (I lost 100+ pounds). He was the first surgeon that I consulted with and I had appointments with two others in the next four weeks. After meeting him and hearing about his experience with working with massive weight loss patients and his knowledge of all skin types, I read over the articles that he provided and two days later chose him. My primary care physician had given me the names of several other doctors, but I found Dr. Beck on Real Self and after meeting him my gut told me then, what I now know is true, he was correct surgeon. I then cancelled the other upcoming consultations. I know that you are supposed to get other opinions and it is not like me to not research something to the bitter end, but I just had a feeling about him.
Office Staff
Where do I begin? From the scheduling for every appointment, the financial arrangements, securing a DVT machine (prior history of blood clots), pre-op photos, follow up phone calls, I have never been so well taken care. Complete professionalism in all situations. Each and every person that you come in contact with that is associated with Dr. Beck share his desire for the best outcome.
Pre-Op Instructions
His detailed pre surgery instructions allowed me to have a speedy recovery and healing with minimal scars. He includes step by step instructions on proper nutrition (protein and exercise are imperative), vitamins and probiotics. He gives you all the tools necessary to have be successful and it is totally up to the individual to follow his instructions. He has taken great care in preparing these instructions and I have found my recovery to be rather quick. I was up walking the next day. I slept in my bed the second night with pillows to elevate my head and legs. Through this whole process, I have had minimal swelling (I wear my CG faithfully and follow all of his instructions down to the last detail). I have not had any wounds reopen or any signs of infection. By day four I was only on Tylenol for the pain and sleeping well. I cannot emphasize the care that has been taken in the writing of his instructions; it’s almost as if he has had the surgery himself, in order to have such a lens in the preparation.
Bedside Manner
What I like in particular about him is that he is never in a rush and it's almost as if he can anticipate your questions. I was concerned about the length of the surgery and he was very frank in explaining what needed to be done in order to get the best outcome. For this procedure it is impressive that he does not use liposuction, therefore there is not any bruising. Because he is so meticulous, I find that my scars are healing at a rapid pace. I have had prior surgeries, but this was different, as I immediately noticed the detail and precision that was used for the stitches. I have not had any openings or infection. Even after three weeks, I could live with the current state of the incisions. He is a perfectionist in the most wonderful way, in which I will always be grateful. Originally, I thought that he would only be able to take some of the excess skin; I never dreamed that I would get the results that he produced. Dr. Beck said something interesting at the pre-op appointment. He said that during this process that I will have ups and downs and that this can be emotional. He said he would be my therapist. Wow, is that great bedside manner or what? It is true, it is an emotional journey, but honestly, the only time I cried was when I saw how unbelievably flat my stomach is, that I won't have to wear shape wear for the rest of my life, and I won’t have to wear those under ware with the flowers that come in a package of five.

Wow! Great review. You look great and more importantly, you sound great! I'm very happy for you. I'll be having a posterior lift and a medical thigh lift on Feb 14th. I'd love more information if you would? Specifically things to do or not do during the recovery period, etc. Any chance you'd pm me? I'd love a copy of those detailed instructions if at all possible. If so, I'll send you my email address. Your doctor sounds amazing. I love he said he'd be your therapist thru this. Lol. Mine said similar after tons of emails. He said- no problem. I'm part comedian, part therapist, and all plastic surgeon.

I am glad I saw your post today. I have been planning for a while to have a mommy makeover. I chose a doctor back in my hometown but recently moved to the Bay Area for my husbands work. I dont want to travel far from home to have this procedure so I had to start my search over. I am a surgical assistant and have never chosen a doctor that I haven't personally worked with so this decision is extra hard. I'm happy to see such good reviews on Dr Beck. I haven't set my date yet but I have chosen to go with him.
