I am 60 and love my breasts they have served me well, but I am sure after reading and researching that they are making me unwell, I have many challenges the worst one is non Hodgkin's lymphoma. I have an app with Dr Kennedy Foritude Vally 24th Aug to discuss explant,I am very reluctant to have them removed as they feel a part of me,I have had them for 24years now.

I know I will be very sad as they have helped with my low self esteem , funny how we build our self worth on how big our breasts are,sad but true, will keep up to date and I am loving reading all the other ladies writings to.good luck to us all.

I would not use dr Kennedy again, or recommend him to anyone,as he knew I was distressed about the capsules to come out as I have non Hodgkin's lymphoma and didn't want anything left in that could cause issues in my future,I practically pleaded with him,but when I woke from procedure it was not done,he did not even come and see me after surgery,he's on holidays and I have not even talked with him about it. My op was 14th sept...not happy at all.now I am left with looking for a revision to remove capsule. More dollars ....

Hi, Yes, they look great, but it is recommened that they be removed or replaced after 10 years. With your health problems, I would say good riddance. I am 60 also and am scheduled to have mine explanted on 8/25/16. It's a hard decision, mine are Dow Corning silicone that have been in for 29 years. One is ruptured and I have no idea when it happened. I have been sick for years. I have RA, had to have a thyroidectomy, retinal vein occlusion just to mention a few. I just never feel good anymore. I am praying that I will feel better when I get these nasty bags out. This site is full of good information and support. I have been glued to it for several days. I am trying to decide whether to get a breast lift at the same time as removal of implants. I would suggest that you remove yours for the sake of your health. Hope I helped you a little bit.

Thank you yes my health is more important then having the implants for my self worth,I could never afford to have them removed and replaced,my advice is like I am going to do is wait and see how they look and how you will feel when they are out, good luck I will be watching out for your journey saying a little prayer for us all that had no self worth in the first place and for us who are going to have surgery.

Did you have your implants replaced during that 24 years. I am in my early 50s and only had mine 2 yrs. Wishing you well.
August 26, 2016
No unfortunately I didn't , I asked about that yesterday and dr said its not always necessary to do every ten years,I had no problems with mine,I suppose if I did I most probably would have found the dollars to have it done, good luck also with your journey too.

Hi! I have my explant next week. I was told it's not always necessary to remove the capsules, and it the capsule is very thin they cannot remove it. I don't know if that was much help. Lol Have you thought about asking the question on the ask a dr forum? Good luck! I hope the removal helps your health!

Thanks so much for your comment much appreciate, was thinking because I have non Hodgkin's lymphoma I would rather have everything out that may cause more infection,I am not sure if leaving capsule in or part of it will cause infection.
I will check on dr forum when I work out how to do it hahaha dumb blonde I am, no offence to any beautiful blondes out there only me.

Hi, I had my explant on 8/25/16. My left implant was ruptured. My doctor removed the implants with total capsulectomy. I have drains too which I think are necessary. I am still collecting a lot of fluid. I have my post opt appointment tomorrow. I think you need to get a second opinion and find a doctor who is skilled in explants. I am sure your body formed a capsule and it needs to be removed. I can breath much better now and I think I will start feeling better after I recover from this surgery. I didn't have a lift, but may do it later. I think it would have been too much for me to handle considering the poor health that I am in right now. Please get the capsules removed.
