Monday is my big day. I totally have jitters. I'm rethinking my size, my profile, the timing, everything! Part of that is just my personality, and part of it is because it is such a life changing decision. I've always loathed having such small breasts, but now that I'm about to say adios to them, I've found myself touching them and thinking, "they're not THAT bad." Never would have imagined I might grow fond of these little guys...oh well.
So here's my profile: I'm 40 years old, divorced with 3 kids (all 3 nursed). I am 5'10", 150 lbs, and barely fill an A cup. Two years ago, I had a lumpectomy on my right breast (no cancer, yay!), so I have a pretty noticeable dimple where they removed a my breast tissue, and a little asymmetry. I am wondering how that side will look after the implants settle.
To prepare, I went to 6-7 consultations. After sizers, professional opinions, and a LOT of Q & A, I chose to go with high profile silicone, 450 cc. You can see from the pics, I don't have a lot of tissue to start with, and what I want to end with is a large, full pair of breasts. I definitely don't want to spend this money and end up with the same look I could accomplish with a padded, add-a-size bra.
I told my mom this week, and she was super-supportive. She's going to be with me on Monday. My boyfriend wants to "help" but uh, duh...No. My best friend is also going to be around. I'll tell my kids and brother this weekend. I teach, so I won't have a lot of work obligations over the summer, and I'm really hoping they'll have a nice shape by the time the Fall semester begins.
So now, just the waiting. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and then show time. I pray all goes well.

Post Op - Day 3
MyTurnAt40June 26, 2014
Bandages off today. Riding in the truck hurt like crazy there and back. It's weird to feel this new weight. I thought I might have been able to drive today, but that wasn't the case. I don't have my energy back yet because I haven't been able to sleep through the night--mostly 2 hour spurts. I am having sharp shooting pains on the right side, but I figure that's part of having been cut open. I'm hoping that by in the morning, I'll feel less pain.
I included my before pics and my bandages-off pics. I'm 5' 10", 150 lbs. I got high-profile, silicone, 450cc's.

Hey MyTurn and congratulations. You look great. I hope you have an easy recovery. Those sharp shooting pains are the nerves waking up and settling back in to place. You may feel them in one or both for several weeks. You might want to visit the June/July surgeries forum. There are a lot of great women there in various stages of this process. If you have any questions, I'm sure one of them can help you.

Thanks Redglory. They subsided today thankfully. Thanks for telling me about the forum.

Congratulations! Looks like all the time spent going on various doctor consults really paid off. Glad your mom is supportive and helpful. Take it easy! BTW, I love your tips on the Forum: "What You Wish You'd Known Before Breast Aug Surgery." Thanks for all your helpful posts!

Post Op - Day 11 Noticing changes, Woo Hoo!
MyTurnAt40July 5, 2014
I'm really happy with my progress, and this forum is a great place to find similar stories/questions! I'm 11 days post-op, and while there are a lot of limitations still, I'm pleased at the noticeable changes. I'm not as tired now, and don't feel like I need take so many naps. I can tell the girls are dropping ever so slightly, and they don't look like they are in my collarbone, lol.
I got my steri-strips removed and replaced with just one strip, and the nurse said at my 3-week visit when I see the doctor, those can come off for good. I've regained a lot of my range of motion, but sometimes I still find myself hunching over instead of sitting straight up with my shoulders back. I'm going to try some of the exercises I saw in this video shared by another member: http://youtu.be/lJs9tr75b70.
Still no bra...I never would have believed I would be comfortable walking around bra-less, but I am. I just thrown on a matching tank top underneath my clothes. My areola are huge, but they've been that way since nursing. My nipples are also puffy, but I read on here that it's normal because the tissue there is thin and offers less resistance than the other breast tissue.
Anyway, the girls are good. I'm so happy in finally decided to take the plunge.
