4 Days Left - Worse Than Wedding Jitters! Forth Worth, TX

Monday is my big day. I totally have jitters. I'm rethinking my size, my profile, the timing, everything! Part of that is just my personality, and part of it is because it is such a life changing decision. I've always loathed having such small breasts, but now that I'm about to say adios to them, I've found myself touching them and thinking, "they're not THAT bad." Never would have imagined I might grow fond of these little guys...oh well.

So here's my profile: I'm 40 years old, divorced with 3 kids (all 3 nursed). I am 5'10", 150 lbs, and barely fill an A cup. Two years ago, I had a lumpectomy on my right breast (no cancer, yay!), so I have a pretty noticeable dimple where they removed a my breast tissue, and a little asymmetry. I am wondering how that side will look after the implants settle.

To prepare, I went to 6-7 consultations. After sizers, professional opinions, and a LOT of Q & A, I chose to go with high profile silicone, 450 cc. You can see from the pics, I don't have a lot of tissue to start with, and what I want to end with is a large, full pair of breasts. I definitely don't want to spend this money and end up with the same look I could accomplish with a padded, add-a-size bra.

I told my mom this week, and she was super-supportive. She's going to be with me on Monday. My boyfriend wants to "help" but uh, duh...No. My best friend is also going to be around. I'll tell my kids and brother this weekend. I teach, so I won't have a lot of work obligations over the summer, and I'm really hoping they'll have a nice shape by the time the Fall semester begins.

So now, just the waiting. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and then show time. I pray all goes well.

Congrats!! All of those feelings are perfectly normal. We've all been there. I remember feeling sad about losing my small boobs, too, just because you are leaping into the unknown, and from here on out, it's something you will have to be concerned about (especially for a few months as they heal) and I had no concern about "hurting" my small ones (they can't pop if they're natural, right?!!). We second guess ourselves before this surgery because of course it would be ok to leave well enough alone, but let me tell you, having larger ones changes everything in your life in beautiful ways (and I have to say I didn't mind my small ones before breastfeeding my 3 kids, either). I kinda liked them. But getting the perfect size for you opens up your world, and it's something you can appreciate every single day. Best of luck on this emotional roller coaster. Soon they will feel like they've always been there and you won't be able to remember what the small ones felt like. I think you've picked the right size, too!!!

I felt exactly the same way you did the week right before my BA! I was very excited and than started getting cold feet. My mother and best friend also came in for support on my surgery date. It's very normal to feel nervous because its a life changing experience, but also remind your self why you are doing this. Life is about growth and change and you sound like you are on the right path. I can tell you from my experience, I am much more happier than I ever was in my life, and not just because of the appearance of my new breast, but the confidence and strength i have gain out of this transformation to live the life i want to live. I am more than positive you will be happy and beautiful, blossoming into that butterfly you are. Best of luck!

It is interesting, I had a right breast lumpectompy years ago. My small breasts were left with two different sizes. You asked excellent questions. Your breasts are absolutely beautiful. I had my surgery last Monday. Today was my 1st post op visit. I was given direction from my doctor on when and how to start the breast massage. The nurse told me that in two weeks my stitches will be healed enough to start the massages. My next visit will be in 5 weeks. Thanks again for sharing your story.

Post Op - Day 3

Bandages off today. Riding in the truck hurt like crazy there and back. It's weird to feel this new weight. I thought I might have been able to drive today, but that wasn't the case. I don't have my energy back yet because I haven't been able to sleep through the night--mostly 2 hour spurts. I am having sharp shooting pains on the right side, but I figure that's part of having been cut open. I'm hoping that by in the morning, I'll feel less pain.
I included my before pics and my bandages-off pics. I'm 5' 10", 150 lbs. I got high-profile, silicone, 450cc's.

Hey MyTurn and congratulations. You look great. I hope you have an easy recovery. Those sharp shooting pains are the nerves waking up and settling back in to place. You may feel them in one or both for several weeks. You might want to visit the June/July surgeries forum. There are a lot of great women there in various stages of this process. If you have any questions, I'm sure one of them can help you.

Post Op - Day 11 Noticing changes, Woo Hoo!

MyTurnAt40
I'm really happy with my progress, and this forum is a great place to find similar stories/questions! I'm 11 days post-op, and while there are a lot of limitations still, I'm pleased at the noticeable changes. I'm not as tired now, and don't feel like I need take so many naps. I can tell the girls are dropping ever so slightly, and they don't look like they are in my collarbone, lol.
I got my steri-strips removed and replaced with just one strip, and the nurse said at my 3-week visit when I see the doctor, those can come off for good. I've regained a lot of my range of motion, but sometimes I still find myself hunching over instead of sitting straight up with my shoulders back. I'm going to try some of the exercises I saw in this video shared by another member: http://youtu.be/lJs9tr75b70.
Still no bra...I never would have believed I would be comfortable walking around bra-less, but I am. I just thrown on a matching tank top underneath my clothes. My areola are huge, but they've been that way since nursing. My nipples are also puffy, but I read on here that it's normal because the tissue there is thin and offers less resistance than the other breast tissue.
Anyway, the girls are good. I'm so happy in finally decided to take the plunge.
