A Fresh Start in Manhattan: My Mini Facelift Journey

WORTH IT
Two years ago, I made one of the biggest changes of my life—I packed up and moved to Manhattan. As a Registered Nurse, I’ve always believed in hard work, resilience, and taking care of others. But after years of focusing on my patients and career, it took a toll on me and I was looking older then I felt. I realized it was time to refresh. I had a full facelift back in 2017 in Boca Raton, Florida. But recently, life in the city that never sleeps has a way of inspiring transformation. So it was time!
After months of research (and I mean real research), I interviewed at least six top-rated plastic surgeons throughout New York City. I wanted someone experienced, board-certified, and most importantly, someone who truly listened. That’s when I found Dr. Mark Albert, an award-winning, board-certified plastic surgeon located at 950 Park Avenue in Manhattan.
From my very first consultation, Dr. Albert stood out. He’s down to earth, professional, and genuinely kind—a rare combination. He took the time to explain every step of the procedure in detail, from the local anesthesia process to the recovery timeline, which immediately put me at ease. I never once felt rushed or pressured; instead, I felt informed and confident in my decision.
On October 15th, I underwent a mini facelift under local anesthesia. I’ll admit, I was nervous walking in that morning, but the entire experience turned out to be surprisingly smooth—and truly painless. Dr. Albert and his team made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure, and before I knew it, it was done.
The results? Love my new look, subtle, smooth, natural, and exactly what I hoped for. I look refreshed, not “done,” and it feels like my outside now matches the energy and confidence I’ve always felt within.

I’ll be taking pictures along the way to document my healing and progress—because I think it’s important to show the real journey behind the transformation. Every stage tells a story, and I’m excited to share how beautifully the recovery process unfolds.

Looking back, I’m grateful for this experience and for taking the leap to do something just for me. Moving to Manhattan was about chasing new opportunities—and this mini facelift was simply an extension of that same spirit of renewal.

If anyone is considering facial rejuvenation and wants a caring, knowledgeable surgeon, I can wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Mark Albert. His expertise and calm demeanor made all the difference in turning what could have been a stressful experience into something empowering and positive. Updates are forthcoming!

Found some Relief

Hi Everyone, I wanted to update you about my horrible experience with permanent fillers. After years of research and going to Dermatologists, Plastic Surgeons and Immunologists etc. I found out that sometimes with permanent fillers a "biofilm" can develop. A young Dermatologist figured it out....I was told I had Lupus by the last Derm! It is a chronic condition and I have to take an antibiotic tablet and a low dose steroid when I flare out. I take Minocycline for flare ups. It is managable but the sun and tap water is not my friend..... I hope this helps somebody out there that is suffering from the same thing. Wow, what a roller coaster. I've lurked at your profile for a while, and I can't believe there is a happy ending to this. I"m so so happy you've managed to find a solution, even though it is imperfect (but manageable).

I meant the solution is imperfect, you look beautiful.

And thank god you didn't have to resort to radical surgical removal. I'm sure this post is helping many people.

silikon 1000 is and right? I wanted to get it done to help enhance my cheeks but I'm guessing this is a bad idea

What a terrible journey you have had...I see in many of the responses folks are just a few years out from the Silkon and are insisting it's been great for them. The body's immune system over time is a totally different beast than in the short run. I wish you the best, good to hear you have found a management program that works.

I can't get my medical records!

User Avatar

Hi Everyone, I found a dermatologist that wants to help me but he needs my medical records and Dr. Melvin Propis's office, where I had the injections done, will not send them. It's like they don't want to help me! My face is now getting really red and it seems as though the Silicon migrated to my chin area...I can feel small lumps and bumps. Still itchy as help and keeps me up at night. Haven't worked now in over two years and my savings are almost gone! Any advice would help my Real Self Friends.

Have you considered selling your story to the media to warn others of the potential dangers of legal silicone injections?

Never thought of it. There are so many going through this too! Where to begin? Any ideas of how to get started?

My heart goes out to you Christine, I'm so sorry for your pain. Please try to get ahold of the TV program Botched. I know they are plastic surgeons but I'm sure this is not new to them. They are very skilled and compassionate. I'm sure they could help you. Blessings <3

It is probably a matter of them not wanting accountability for your problems. So shady, they will probably say your file has been lost. Keep trying and might be worth paying an attorney to write them a letter demanding the reports. Start a go fund me page, I would donate.

Thanks for your support. Been busy trying to find a doctor to take this junk out of my cheeks! I'm going into the office to get my chart this week.,,, I need to know where they injected this poison... I;ll look into "go fund me". Thanks again!

As said: so sorry to see what you are going through. Not great that you were informed that liposuction would remove the silicone though. Liposuction is more likely to target healthier tissue than dense, scarred tissue surrounding silicone particles and the silicone particles in themselves. The trauma of the cannula may have activated the present silicone more though. I'd think your only chance to get rid of hopefully some of the silicone is a facelift in which the surgeon can open up and has better access to the scarred tissue/silicone, but even then he/she could never have access to all of the particles. But he/she should be able to remove some of it through a facelift incision. Not sure if Dr. Kornstein undertakes this type of surgery.

Thank you for your post. Yes I agree with you. I think the Lipo activated the silicone more. I'm not getting any respite for this poison at all now. Continuous swelling, redness and itchiness. I'll look into Dr. Kornstein. Thank You!
