Update!!

Me3973
WORTH IT$6,500
Just wanted to post an update since I haven't been on here in months!! I'm more than happy with my results as I come close to a year post op. It was hard the first few months hiding my hairline and dealing with the impatience of it hitting the 3/4 month mark (when it finally starts growing) but if I had to I'd do it all over again. So very worth it! Message me if you have any questions!

Dr. Huebner was great. My consultation was short, yet thorough and I left feeling excited about the procedure. Day of the procedure I had my mother come with me, I signed medical release forms, and he then took me into a side room where we discussed exactly what we wanted my hairline to look like. He then asked me if I wanted to shave the hair off in the area he would be performing the grafting. I didn't want to (obviously) but he reminded me I would get the absolute best results if the area was free of hair, and if I left my hair there I could run the risk of dislodging grafts once I started the post op washing. He told me it was completely up to me though and he'd work with whatever I decided to do. Ultimately I decided to shave all my hair out the way. Afterall, the procedure was expensive and I paid a lot and wanted to receive the best results. He shaved the hair off and then shaved the back suture area. We then moved to the actual surgical room and I was introduced to the women that would be placing the grafts in. They told me I could watch Netflix, tv shows, and had access to whatever I wanted to eat in the snack bowl. Then came the numbing shots. They hurt but that's the only painful part of the procedure. After that they cut the suture line, and started the procedure. I think my surgery was maybe 3 or 4 hours, but I spent it chatting, watching Netflix, eating snacks, on my phone, and talking to my mom. It really flew by. After surgery he gave me a bag full of gauze like things I could lay over my pillow or put over my head if I needed to go in public, an airline neck pillow, and a list of post op instructions, medicines I could take, etc. He told me I could call him whenever I needed and I was driven home by my mom. The next day the patient assistant called me and asked me how I felt which I really appreciated and so far the experience has been extremely lax. This actually was the first type of surgery I had ever had in my life and I did not expect it to be this easy!! I am feeling great about the next few months. I plan on wearing headbands around my grafted areas until the areas begin to fill in nicely.

Both the transplanted hair and suture area hair have both grown to about 3 inches. I think there is a typo in there that says 2. I hate that we can't edit posts

Your hair is really growing it looks fabulous ! I know your wearing it proudly, and now you don't have to worry about the wind. It is really full in the the transplant area, and donor area. Mine is making progress just waiting this out. Congratulations you can celebrate now !

Thank you SO much! Man yes I feels good not to be self conscious anymore about it. The wind, the water, all of those elements used to expose my thinned out areas. What month are you on right now?

I'm so happy to see all of your growth, makes me excited seeing what is hopefully in store for me as well! Do you have any advice about blending in the new growth w the rest of your hair? I'm finding myself feeling very self conscious about my hairline bc its so noticeable. I feel like it was a lot easier to hide my hairline before the surgery bc of the length of the rest of my hair but now it's not as easy. Thank you!

Only thing that I do whether it be this puff in these pictures or in a big fro is slick my hair back with gel and that seems to blend it almost seamlessly. It's harder to blend when it's down but it still blends pretty well! I do get annoyed with the different lengths and have almost considered cutting mine off so it'll all be the exact length but friends and fam keep talking me out if it lol. And thank you so much doll! You have lots to look forward to!

Excellent results! Your hair looks healthy and strong. What shampoo, conditioner, leave in, and oils/creams are you using?
February 18, 2017
Thank you!! I don't really use much products honestly. Sometimes I'll use Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine, and sometimes I'll use Cantu Shea Butter's Conditioning Repair Cream as my leave in. Just whatever I have at the time. As for oils I use coconut oil, castor oil, and sometimes olive oil on my hair/scalp. And that's it! I can't really answer for the shampoo/conditioner because that's the one thing I always swap around. I've yet to find a permanent one of either of those so I just buy whatever sounds moisturizing lol. I hope that helps!

It helps. Thanks much!

Your hair is doing fabulous, I know you are relieved that you no longer have to hide behind those hairbands ! Enjoy your healthy hair with edges.

Lol yes I am. Those headbands got old fast! Thank you so much. Feels so good to be confident in my hair again! Thanks so much doll!

Me3973, did/do you use any Rogaine or natural oils on the transplanted area and at what point in the process did you start to use and are you still using them? Your results look great, btw.
March 21, 2017
Hey there. Thanks so much! No I haven't used any rogaine or chemically induced growth aide. I do use naturals oils tho. Cassie oil, and coconut oil are really it. I mostly use them for dryness but growth tho. Hope that helps!
March 21, 2017
Thanks!
March 22, 2017
Sorry! Just now seeing I had a typo. I meant castor oil not Cassie oil lol.

Can you post pics of the donor area? How has the hair grown back? Is the scar very visible?
April 3, 2017
Yes I'll do so tonight. I'm due for another update anyways. The hair has filled in perfectly (although the hair is very short since it was shaved) you can't even see the scar at all.
April 13, 2017
For some reason, I don't see the new update

5 month fullness.

Two days ago I reached my five days post surgery mark. I have to say, even if my hair did not fill in anymore I would be thankful and feel like this surgery was a success!

It looks great! Reading your progress makes me excited for you so I can only imagine how you feel :) Do you take any hair vitamins or use any essential oils or treatments that you think might have helped w the progress?
January 19, 2017
Thank you so much dear!! I take biotin every now and again. I'm not very consistent with it now, but I took it all the time the first 3 months after surgery. On my scalp I use castor oil and coconut oil every few days or whenever it feels dry. I think the both of those help a ton with growth!
January 23, 2017
Ah your results look so amazing! Im considering this procedure but have no idea how I would wear my hair while the front grows and fills in. How did you wear yours? Also, was shaving the from of your hair optional? Again, you result look great
January 23, 2017
First off thank you so much!! Yes shaving the front was definitely optional. He told me I didn't have to at all but recommended it because I'd get the best results, and I wouldn't risk pulling the transplanted grafts out during the washing phase. (You have to wash the new transplanted area for the first 10 days after the surgery and that's when they're most fragile) so he told me if I had hair in the way I could really risk pulling the grafts out and having them destroyed. After he told me that I just said fine, just shave it, I'll just wear headbands/scarves for a few months. Which is exactly what I did. I wore cute headbands, and headscarves for a few months until my hair grew in approximately.

Thank you for this reply! I want a transplant by the same doctor but do no want any hair shaved. It's good to know that it's optional!

I had my procedure with Dr. Huebner on Thursday! I can't begin to tell you how helpful your advice and feedback was, it definitely helped me prepare and made me feel more comfortable. The first night was rough but the pain meds definitely helped. The soreness is almost completely gone which is perfect. I fly home tomorrow and praying I won't look too crazy returning back to work this week. My hair feels super dry so I'm hoping I won't get too much breakage since I won't be using products for awhile. It will be all worth it in the end!
January 29, 2017
Your hair looks great. Can you wear wigs after this procedure while you wait for you hair to grow in?
January 29, 2017
Thank you! I'm sure you could but nothing that would tug on the new hair growing in. I thought about wearing a lacefront at one point but never got around to it.
January 29, 2017
I hope you don't mind me chiming in, I tried a wig and it was rubbing the transplant area. I wore it for an hour and took it off, I was afraid it would damage the new growth. If you do decide to wear a wig, make sure you get a wig band that stops the wig from moving. If it is sliding while it is on it can do damage as well. I was totally unaware of this. Plus do not use the combs that help the wig to stay in place, they can also cause hair loss.

Don't mind at all, Thank you .@Sogohair
