I've had 20 q switch session and 4/5 Picoway sessions. Losing count. I've been in Themis process over 5 long years and I'm ready to be done. My 5 or 6th treatment is next week I will update. I never thought it would take this long. Hoping it will be fully removed. I'm ready to wear pants. Will update

Hi! Oh my god 5 years!!! I hope you will get what you want as soon as possible! Are you satisfied with the result so far? Scars? Hypopigmentation? Skin texture? Are you going to have further treatments after tattoo removal? Thank you! :) And best luck :D

Hi yes it has been over five years actually. I have lost count. I stopped several times due to pregnancy once and frustration other times. I didn't see significant results until my 10 session. Now I'm at a new place with a Picoway laser and they are going slow. Meaning they are starting with the lowest setting. I know from past experience that low settings doesn't work for me. I didn't start getting results until this last place turned the laser on a high setting. The results are good so far, but it's a slow process. I have no scarring but the tattoo raises a little in the heat, it did that prior to removal. I have hypo pigmentation but not too bad. Looks Ike it can be reversed because they have told me to let the area get a little sun. My skin texture is dry and rough because it's on my leg and I wear pants 98% of the time and don't moisturize.

Thanks for sharing your journey. Was yours a colored tattoo? I have a big multi colour tattoo on my upper calf that i want to fix. I have light asian skin. Thinking of picoway. Which did you find better? Picoway or q switch? Better in what way?

My was all black. I didn't start getting results until my 10th q switch session. What you see is mainly from the q switch laser, I have seen minimal fading with the Picoway laser. Probably because this is a new clinic and they are using the lowest setting.

How painful was this for you? I couldn’t imagine 5 years but I’m sure you will feel like it was all worth it once you receive the results you’re looking for.

It was painful in the beginning. But the less ink the less pain. The fading is not as noticeable as before. So I'm a little concerned. I have 4 more sessions and I don't want to fork out any more money on this.

Well try to keep a positive attitude and as I comb through this site I have read some amazing stories that keep my spirits lifted. We can't let a simple mistake consume our lives. So easy to say and hard to implement in our lives, but we'll make it through! Good luck on your journey!

Do you have any before pictures? It's almost gone, remember that all of this is worth it! I recently started with PicoWay a month ago and I didn't see any changes but I know that I should expect noticeable fading results after 5-7 sessions, with a 15 sessions for complete removal.

I’ve had 2 sessions with the picosure and 4 with the picoway. It’s barely starting to fade. I don’t think it works for black people I don’t care what they say.

You have to go very slow on dark skin. Otherwise youre skin color will be removed as well...
UPDATED FROM lashaye409

After 6th Picoway Session

lashaye409
Here is an update after the 6th Picoway session. My skin has changed an become rough and dry. Thinking of doing some kind of chemical peel for that. But looking at a picture prior to the laser I have come along way. I got this ugly black tattoo as a cover up at 15 years old I am now 32 and have spent $7,000 on removal. I'm praying the remaining ink will react because it looks like it's turning green.

HELLO ! you really have come a lon way ,your are almost there , dont lose hope , I think the skin will improve with time and good care and tretaments .
How many weeks have you been leaving in between tretaments ?Did you think the picoway performed better than the qswicth you used before ?If you dont mind can I ask what laser was the qswitch you were using at first ?
Really brave to have undergone so many treatments , Im only on my third session.

I don't remember what type the w switch was but because I'm African American technicians tend to use the lowest setting. So for the first 15 sessions there was no change and I had 5 more purchased sessions to go. So I got a new tech for the remaking 5 with q switch and that's when I saw a major difference. She used the laser on a really high setting. After those 5 I started at another clinic for Picoway and I'm on my 6th session. I've seen more fading with the q switch honestly. But once again this new clinic was using the lowest setting until I complained and the. She increased it on my 6th session. So if you think it's not working make sure you voice your concerns. Because she's some places will drain you dry of money.

Thanks for your answer ,I’m being treated with a quanta q plus evo ,by a dermatologist and I think they are using the setting as high as they can to be effective without damaging the skin ,I know that with darker skin they tend to use lower settings due to the pigmentation issues .I’m hesitant because I do not have any picoway near and I would like to give it a try ,just to compare ,maybe in the future I will travel to have access to it.
I think your looks almost gone ,you won’t be needing many more sessions ,maybe just enough time to let your body clear the remaining ink .
