I'm a 22 year old from Ireland. 2 years ago, I broke my nose in an accident and after it healed, I was left with a large bump and dorsal hump. My nose had never been a good feature of mine and even prior to the accident I had a bump, however after fracturing it, it was far, far worse.
It was something I felt incredibly self-conscious about and I explored my options here in Ireland to have it fixed, however the price was exorbitant - it would have been 9,000 euro or more. Although I was certain that this was a procedure I wanted to have done, I also couldn't afford to spend that amount of money, nor could I justify it.
After realising what the cost of the procedure would be at home, I decided to explore my options abroad. There are several cosmetic surgery clinics in Eastern Europe that offer rhinoplasty, however the idea of travelling to a foreign country to have invasive surgery done seemed frightening and potentially foolish.
I came across the website for Forme Clinic in Prague though and it seemed like a promising option. I sent away my photographs for an online consultation, just to see what the response would be. The response I received explained that the cost of rhinoplasty would be 1900 euro, plus 175 euro for pre-operative testing. Pricewise, this seemed like a much more viable option, but I was still concerned about safety and I was skeptical that the surgeon would provide satisfactory results.
After reading the CV of Dr. Vasek, the Senior Consultant who would perform the surgery though, I felt reassured and I began to seriously consider this as an option. What was more important than his decades of experience was the fact that Dr. Vasek is a specialist in Otorhinolaryngology. This was crucial for me, as I was aware how complex a procedure rhinoplasty is and I definitely didn't want anyone operating on me who wasn't specialised in the ENT area.
It took me a while to come to a decision about whether or not to proceed, but after realising that financially, I wouldn't be able to have the procedure if I weren't to go abroad, I chose to go ahead with it and I booked myself in for an operating date about a month in advance.
It's now been almost one month since I had my rhinoplasty and I'm so incredibly happy with the results. Overall, I was exceptionally impressed by the Forme Clinic. I flew in Prague on Sunday evening, where I was greeted by the taxi driver that Kristyna, the client co-ordinator, so nicely arranged free of charge.
I decided not to stay in the apartments recommended by the clinic as they were quite expensive - instead I rented out a small apartment just outside the city city, which I found on Air BnB. I had a small apartment to myself for five nights, for which I paid 120 euro!
I went to the clinic on the Monday morning, a bag of nerves, but ready to finally do this. Kristyna greeted me and she helped to calm my nerves a bit. I then had my pre-operative tests, which were administered by a nurse. I was then examined by Dr. Vaskova, who it turns out, is the wife of Dr. Vasek. She was so lovely and she assured me that her husband is an excellent surgeon and that noses are his specialty.
I then had my consultation with Dr. Vasek. After examining me, he explained how he would proceed, what the expected recovery period would be and what results I could expect. It was a short consultation, but he was very confident and most importantly, I got a strong impression of conscientiousness - that he really cared about providing the best possible results.
I was shown my room, where I would stay for night after the procedure and I was introduced to the two nurses would be taking care of me. Already I was really impressed by the standard of care – if I were back in Ireland, I certainly wouldn’t have had two nurses taking care of just me!
The care that the nurses provided was really incredible, they were exceptionally kind.
The recovery was surprisingly quick. I had a lot of bruising and swelling, as expected, however my energy levels were back to normal about a day after the surgery and I was actually able to explore the city a bit. This was another advantage of going abroad, at home, if I had a nose cast on and two black eyes, there’s no way I would go outside, but being in a foreign city where no-one knew me, I felt surprisingly unashamed and didn’t really care about anyone looking at me strangely!
A week after the surgery and after returning home, I had the cast removed by a doctor here. Even on the initial cast removal, I was so impressed and overwhelmed by the results. The hump I had on my nose is now completely gone and Dr. Vasek also raised the tip of my nose slightly. It looks really natural, most people didn’t even notice that my nose specifically had changed, but just that I look better overall.
The purpose of my writing this review is first of all to thank the Forme Clinic for providing such a superb experience. I’d like anyone else who is considered going there to read this, as an honest account of what to expect. The one thing that I found off-putting about the Clinic was that I couldn’t really find many reviews online.
I’m so impressed by my experience. I genuinely can’t find a single thing to fault or criticise. Kristyna, the client co-ordinator was incredible and so kind. As I was checking out, she gave a big bar of chocolate, to help me through my recovery. It was simple things like that, or the fact that they organized a free taxi to and from the airport (which would have cost about fifty euro extra had I to pay for it myself), that really shows that they do care about their patients. Dr. Vasek is an absolute artist, I never thought that I would be so happy with the results or that the outcome would be so natural looking!
I genuinely don’t think that I would have gotten as good a result if I had the operation here in Ireland, I know that I definitely wouldn’t have received the same standard of care. And crucially, this was all for about a fifth of what it would have cost if I were to have stayed at home!
This is a massive thank you to the Forme Clinic. I can’t praise them enough or recommend them more highly to anyone considering cosmetic surgery abroad. Dr. Vasek and his team are amazing, professional, conscientious and so kind.
