I moved from Oregon to Arizona just about a year...

I moved from Oregon to Arizona just about a year ago at which time I discontinued my monthly laser treatments. For two years I had been getting a "Trinity" treatment monthly using Alma lasers. They were EXPENSIVE! They were a bit painful. However, they were effective and I could tell the difference almost immediately. And with most everything in this world: there is a catch.

A little background: I started the treatments when I was fifty. I am blessed (thanks Dad) with what has been referred to as a "cute" face. My features are put together in a way that makes me look like a child....not drastically but just enough to give me that youthful look. However, unless one lives in a bubble for 50 years, age will undoubtedly show. Before the treatments began I had lots of discoloration, significant forehead wrinkles, the beginnings of those dreaded mouth lines and a worry wrinkle right between my eyebrows. I also had ice pick scars and enlarged pores starting to show up. As soon as two months after starting treatments nearly all of those things were gone, especially the discoloration. In fact, I'd say my skin continued to look porcelain throughout the two years of treatment. I would always get the "Oh my god, I never would have put your age above forty" comments.

OK, so now it's 11 months in the desert climate with no laser treatments (and to be fair, I've lost about 20 pounds). All water, fat and collagen is gone from my face. And the wrinkles are back, times ten, over what they were when I left Oregon. But what's most disturbing to me is looking at pictures of myself right before I left Oregon. Ladies, I had a moon face! And that's not exaggeration because even my daughter said that she always wanted to tell me I looked weird but didn't want to hurt my feelings. My passport picture was taken just as I departed and I look as though I weighed 250 lbs. I had no idea what adding so much collagen was actually doing to my face. Just think of blowing up a balloon. My, that surface is nice and tight but what happens when the balloon has popped after being blown up for a couple of days (or, in my case, a couple of years)?

Bottom line is that you must take before pictures and have someone around who will be brutally honest with you about how your face looks. And know that if you want to keep the effects going, you can't stop. Honestly, had I had a REAL perspective of how I was looking, I would have saved the money.

So now what? Well, I have been experimenting and have hit on an incredible serum that I make myself. That, coupled with micro needling that I'm also doing myself (see review under that category), I have come to a nice middle ground that has my face looking great for my age (I finally gave up on looking 30) and I'm now getting those "Oh my god, I wouldn't have put you above 45"....yeah, OK, I slipped some but I'll take it.

Remember: the absolute BEST thing you can do for your looks is smile. It's a miracle worker!

They were OK...a bit disorganized and it was truly a "beauty mill"....always booked solid with technicians highly overworked and under paid.
