WORTH IT
Hiii! Im 26yr old 5'8'' starting weight 279p. This journey has been going on for a while, I am originally from NY and I lived in FL for about 3 1/2 yrs I went to see 3 different doctors and looked into the lap-band or the sleeve ultimately i was more into the sleeve. The main problem was since my insurance was from NY i would have to pay out of pocket if I wanted the procedure done.
So I packed my bags and moved to NY Aug-2016. As soon as I moved here I met with Dr. Barrett @ Forest Hills Hospital in Queens, I decided to go to this hospital because I have a cousin who works there and has been really helpful with this
whole process. I scheduled all my appointments in advance with my PCP, my insurance required 6 months follow up with progress notes.
Now I have hypothyroidism which required me to follow up for about 5 months with my endocrinologist and take the correct medication since my PCP and my surgeon would not operate me with the thyroid levels being unstable.
That being said I have done all the test and paperwork and I am scheduled for my surgery 1/11/2016!!! YAY!
I am 269p and my birthday is 1/15 so this surgery is what I wished for and my wish came true. I am married and want to have a healthier lifestyle so I can be able to have my children with no complications from being so overweight.
I will keep everyone posted on my progress, and I wish you all the best.

Day 3 Post-op!
Well not begin with the entire staff at Forest Hills hospital was super nice and helpful.
As of how the surgery went when I woke up all I remember is light pain and it would get worse as time went by I kept asking for pain meds which eventually I got. The first night was all about pain and sleeping it off.
Day 2 I got up "fine" to go to the bathroom I kept burping but no bowel movement or any gas from bellow which is what they wanted. The number one thing for me was nauseous, nauseous, and nauseous. Anytime I would sip on something along came the pain of everything moving around in there and the nausea. The meds did help but didn't take it completely away. So I was discharged last night and that ride from the hospital was not fun I did put a pillow along my stomach to hold it together for the bumpy ride. The ride did bring out a lot of the gas I had so I was burping the entire trip home.
Day 3 I woke up with some pain so I had my meds dissolved in water but again even with the nausea medicine it's the worst part. I took a shower getting out of bed is a little harder now cause I guess I'm healing and anytime I walk I feel like I'm stretching my insides. I will continue to try and take in my liquids and walk walk walk.
I can't say anything in general about if it's worth it or not cause right now I'm not doing too good but this too shall pass and I will be feeling better.

Keep those liquids up. That's the most important thing the first week. You are going to do great!

Thank you for sharing. I hope the nausea subsides soon.

Day 5 Post-op the good, the bad and the smelly
So since day 4 & 5 which is today no nausea been taking my protein shakes well and my chicken broth.
I was told that if by day 3 there was no bowel movement to take the smallest dose of milk of magnesium, I took it on day 4 and today day 5 nothing yet. I was able to pass gas finally on day 3 this went on all night but it was a relief.
One thing I do is walk each time after I eat it helps things move along and release gas.
Pain- it's still there in my biggest incision I spoke with one of the staff members that were assisting my doctor and they said as long as there is no sign of fever or any liquid draining from the wound, that pain is normal.
Now the smelly my breath! I brush my teeth 3 times a day and use mouth wash but there is nothing I can do, the acid in my stomach does what it wants to do, this too is normal. I try not to talk too close to people cause I don't smell it but my mom and husband made me aware of my tiger breath.
So things are moving along well if anyone has any questions I'm more than welcome to answer based on my experience.
Stay positive my real self friends.
