Forehead Reduction: Tremendous Experience!
Forehead Reduction: Tremendous Experience!
Limiting the variety of hairstyles I feel comfortable trying, a high hairline, and in turn, a large forehead, has been something that has bothered me for a while. After weighing up my options, I figured the best solution to this was forehead reduction surgery (al?n daraltma). While a hair transplant may have also been an option, results are not always guaranteed unlike forehead reduction which gives the surgeon more control over the desired final result; forehead skin is excised, and the hairline is pulled down to the desired position.
Due to the inevitability of a scar across the hairline, and the fact that I’m a male patient, Dr Cengizhan initially recommended a hair transplant. However, I expressed unconcern for the scar as my hair is long enough to cover it should I feel the need to. Additionally, a mini hair transplant over the scar is an option once it has healed.
From the moment I reached out to Dr Cengizhan‘s assistant via WhatsApp, to this day, the service has been impeccable. I arrived at the hospital in Istanbul for my surgery in April 2021, where I was greeted by Dr Cengizhan‘s assistant, who guided me every step of the way and didn’t leave my side throughout the whole process. I first had a consultation with my anesthesiologist (which I thought was both extremely important and professional). I’ve previously travelled to Turkey for surgery with a different surgeon and this consultation was not provided, so I instantly knew that I was in safe hands with Dr Cengizhan‘s team.
Following this, I had my consultation with Dr Cengizhan, which was great! He was warm, welcoming, and listened to my concerns, while also giving his own input. His character was very professional, while also having a well balanced sense of humour which definitely made me feel at ease. After making the markings on my forehead, I was taken to my hospital room and prepared for surgery.
Right before the anesthesia was administered, I was able to talk with Dr Cengizhan one final time, which wasn’t necessary, but definitely made for a more comfortable experience.
I woke up from surgery with my bandages on, to be told the surgery was a success, as expected. The following morning, Dr Cengizhan visited me in my hospital room to check on me and explain how my surgery went, before I was discharged to return to my hotel for recovery.
Surprisingly, the recovery process was not painful. There was certainly discomfort for the first 4 days following the surgery, however no pain. Everything was bearable. (I was more concerned about not being able to wash my hair for a week.) As for the bruising and swelling around the eyes, this was also minimal. I was expecting my eyes to be swollen-shut, but only experienced mild swelling of the upper eyelids, and slight discolouration around the eyes.
Around one week later, I returned to the hospital where Dr Cengizhan removed my bandages and some stitches. Again, the service from him and his assistant was phenomenal. This was the big reveal, and I must say I was thrilled. Not only am I impressed with the size of my forehead, but I can also appreciate the artistic skill of Dr Cengizhan with regard to the closure of my incision. It was very neatly done, and I’m sure it’s going to heal very well as a result. I’m extremely happy with my results and could not have chosen a more experienced surgeon, with a great team to do the job. He really listened to what I wanted, and was able to deliver.
Overall, my experience was an 11/10 and I highly recommend Dr Cengizhan to anybody considering forehead reduction surgery. His whole team is wonderful! I also know that he specialises in many other surgical procedures (both body and face), so if you’re considering anything more than forehead reduction, please still check him out. You’re in safe hands!

I will finish this by saying a massive thank you to Dr Cengizhan, his assistant, Z, as well as the nurses who looked after me during my stay.
*The before and after picture I have attached is taken only 3 weeks apart. So please note that the scar in the picture is still very fresh at 3 weeks, and will gradually fade over the coming months.
