Day 3: Drainage removal + Hip implants measurements

So, on day 3 post op, Dr. Eppley’s beautiful assistant Dawn helped me remove my drain. It was reeeally uncomfortable having to have it pulled out, since it was so long - from one ear to the other - but she was as gentle as possible. And it was worth having the drain in a couple extra days since it reduced my swelling a lot I think. I will wait another 3 weeks before eventually posting before and afters.

I can already see/feel some small irregularities, but that’s just how plastic surgery is, you can’t reach perfection even though you’re a perfectionist yourself... and you just have to be satisfied with an improvement or you will go crazy. I’ve engaged 11 years of my life to try to fix this issue, that no one else has seen but me, and I’m so fed up with it now. No more head surgery! I’m almost back to “normal” now and I’m fine with that and I’m forever grateful that Dr. Eppley was willing to take on my case, while other doctors rejected me since they thought it was too complicated and/or not “big enough” of a problem....

Anyways. I told Dawn and Dr. Eppley that I’m going to Dr. Stanton to have butt implants in a few days, and I was surprised to hear that Dr. Eppley does a lot of both butt and hip implants himself. He said he was one of the surgeons doing most butt/hip implants in the Midwest and lecturing on how to operate and customize hip implants.

I asked him to take my measurement if I ever wanted/would be able to do hip implants with him in the future and send me a quote. I was surprised how large the hip implant can be designed. I have attached photos of the drawings he made on me for the shape/size and how the hip implant would be placed. The dot is just showing where the hip implant would have the most projection. He suggested 1,5 cm but I’d rather have at least 2 cm.

What scares me with hip implants is that there are so few people writing about them though, so I’m still sceptic how they would feel and move with the body, if they would look natural or if it would be obvious somehow. I wish more people who’ve had/has hip implants would write about their experience with them ... oh, well. Wish you all a great day today!

Day 1

I have barely slept tonight. I’m still very sore on my skull even though I took a lot of painkillers (I have a high opiate-tolerance I guess) and I have no idea how everything looks/feels underneath the bandage. I’m calling in the office soon to see when to come in and take my bandage off. My stomach hurts from the antibiotics I guess, but I bought a lot of pre- and probiotics to balance that out (I hope it does at least). My appetite is really low as well, but I try to force myself to shove in as much nutrition as possible since it’s necessary for the healing.
Oh by the way, Dr. Eppley is a real sweetheart. During the consultation he not only talked about the operation we were going to do but he also answered a lot of my questions regarding my nose which I have a little trouble with at the moment (not because of him though!). I never feel rushed by Dr. Eppley even though I KNOW he has a lot to do. He is calm in his nature and very professional. And his new assistant Dawn was super nice, caring and attentive as well. Same for the anesthesiologist and nurses, everyone was really nice and took good care of me.

Just came out...

• Just came out from surgery today with Dr. Eppley. I have a white large bandage on now and a drainage so I cannot see the result yet. But i must tell you, burring down the bone is more painful than inserting an implant! I wasn’t prepared for this pain and discomfort! Also my throat is sore as hell (from the anesthesia I guess...) and it hurts swallowing, it also hurts on the sides of the head whenever chewing anything that is slightly hard because of the coronal scar opening to the skull.

• I will come in to the doctors office tomorrow and hopefully remove the drain as he said, if the bleeding isn’t too much. I chose not to take the cortisone pills even though they said there can be A LOT of swellling with this surgery, I’m just not comfortable stuffing my body with so many toxic pills: There’s already the pain killers and the antibiotics, and I’m not so afraid of some swelling. That should be it for now unless it seems like the swelling will blow up like crazy in a coupe of days.
Also... now it’s just EIGHT DAYS until my butt implant surgery!! I can’t believe how fast time is running!!
