A tiny bit of hypopigmentation on the right side.

I'm being diligent with my scar treatment. Scar away gel twice a day.

I also have latisse which I could use later for hypopigmentation

For now, I'm sticking with scar away gel on the incision and minoxidil around the incision to help regrowth.

Btw, that isn't shock loss around the incision. The hair around the incision was actually trimmed for surgery to improve visibility. It would grow back anyway but I'm using minoxidil to speed it up. I might do prp injections as well. But not yet sure.

Love my results so far and looking forward to all the hair around the incision growing back in.

Using my antibiotic ointment several times a day. Sutures came out on 8th day post.

So far my incision looks great. I also haven't had any shock loss.

I think the true test is going to be around the 3rd, 4th week because that's when my scar started hypopigmenting last time.

Fingers crossed. So far, so good

Final update

I ended up getting a revision with Dr Epstein.

I am only a few days post op and will be writing a separate review on my experience with Dr Epstein

The main issues I had with my procedure with Dr Solomon were:
- Scarring. I think most of us with darker skin know how to deal with hyperpigmentation (HQ and retinol) but hypopigmented scars are a whole different ball game. It was very visible, impossible to darken, looked weird with makeup on and my attempt to hide it with micropigmentation made it soo much worse! Don't get micropigmentation on your hairline ever!

- My hairline was NOT lowered as much as I wanted and it was also uneven i.e. the left side was lower than the right side

- No follow up. I never saw the surgeon after my procedure. I didn't see him on any of my follow up visits and eventually had a call with him where he recommended grafts to cover the scar.

- My expectations with respect to my results were not properly set. I went into the procedure not sure what my results would look like and was underwhelmed with the amount of lowering I got. At some point I thought he had shaved to front of my head to put the staples in and that my forehead would be smaller when it grew back in. This wasn't the case and just goes to show how bad the communication was.

- In comparison to the revision, I found that this procedure was much more invasive than it had to be. The incisions were much longer (about 5 inches on either side), I had to have a drain put in, I had the staples taken out over two visits. With the revision, the incisions were much shorter (about an inch on either side), no drain, he used thread sutures and I could have flown home the next day if I wanted to. I also think Dr Solomons's use of metal staples instead of thread sutures contributed to scarring.

In Summary, if choosing to have this procedure with Dr Solomon, the most important thing is to communicate very clearly what you want, make sure he tells you what to expect, how many inches he will lower, where he will round out the hairline etc and be sure that you are happy with it before going ahead with this procedure.

Based on my experience, my recommendation is to always go with a surgeon who specializes in what you want rather than someone who does it once in a while (which is why I chose Dr Epstein) but I understand that it isn't always possible.

Anyway, in conclusion here are some pictures of
1)the scar 2 years post op,
2)after micro pigmentation (atrocious!) and
3)after my revision where Dr Epstein excised the scar and micropigmented skin and brought down my hairline a little more.
