Can Not Wait For My New Nose! - Folsom, CA

WORTH IT
A little background... I was in a car accident as a teenager and broke my nose and it was severed at the columella on the steering wheel. I almost had my nose done 10 years ago when I was 24 and wish I would have but I could not justify the cost. Now I could not be more ready! I have a deviated septum, hanging columella, and small bump.

I am also having my septorhinoplasty done by Dr. Clutter! Haven't seen too many reviews on him on this website, but excited I'm not alone! When is your date?
October 31, 2014
Oh that is great! Did you hear about him through this site? I did;-) I am scheduled for the first week in January but trying to get the last week of December if possible, she will call me if there is a cancellation...how about you?

I found one Review from him on this site from years ago, that's what lead me into his office. I am scheduled for January 6th, just after all the holidays, and leaves enough time to overcome the swelling before schools starts again. I'm super excited about the operation, although nervous at the same time b/c he's the first doctor I've consulted with. Did you shop around before determining he was a good fit?

I did research quite a bit, and although my first choice was Dr. Grigoryants in Glendale, I was hesitant to stay there for a week for the initial recovery. We did a consult through email and photos. I have gone back and forth between him and Clutter. I had a consultation with Dr. Clark when I was 24 and that is who I was originally going to go with. I also had one other but he did not specialize in noses. It's normal to be nervous I am as well....it's our face right? I don't hate my nose and of course I am worried about people noticing or saying to themselves oh my gosh she looked better before why would she do that? So many emotions, but I have to go with my gut and the fact that it still bothers me this many years later I am so tired of fixating on it!

So sorry about your accident, but I'm glad you're able to get this taken care of now! Here's a list of pre- and post-op tips that might come in handy for you! I hope you'll use this space to keep us updated.

Thank you for welcoming me;-) I will definitely post after photos and updates.

Absolutely! Super excited for you though! I also was thinking about going to Dr. G, but unfortunately he is out of my network as far as insurance coverage, which sucks! His work is truly amazing! Dr. Clutter showed me a photo album of his before and afters but it's a little difficult to determine whether i liked them or not. All the changes were fairly subtle, and there were older patients from over a decade ago. I'm not really looking for subtle though, but as you were saying, follow your gut! Just gotta think positive about the situation; I don't think my nose could get any worse any way lol!

I think if you express that you don't want subtle he will have no problem with giving you that result. Have you used that plastic surgery simulator thing? You could always print it out and take it to your preop? I know he does not believe in doing it at his office but you could say you know the results are not going to be exact but this is an idea of the more dramatic change you are looking for. I agree, his photos are not great in the office( I had really hoped for better too!), the only reason I am going to him is based on reviews from here, my consult, and how long he has been doing it.... and my gut!

Hmm.. Yea maybe I should give the simulator another shot. Just found it a little difficult to use the first time without shrinking my eye or cheek or making my face look deformed in one way or another. What is a good free one to use?

I think its called virtual plastic surgery simulator, I read that iphone has a good version too but I have a smartphone....

Worried about my hanging columella

readyforrhino1
I am worried if I fix this there will be too much space between my upper lip and nose! My fear is trading one thing I dislike for something else!

That is my biggest fear as well! Between having too much space between my lip and nose or having a "who nose" where my nostrils flare out. I am excited to see your nose, I am very interested in this Dr. because he looks like he takes a natural approach versus a "hollywood" nose that looks so fake. (Biggest fear)
November 22, 2014
My fear also. I don't think it will make too big of a difference though. My doctor also tucked in my nostrils so they won't flare out. As long as you don't have a short nose now it will be ok. I actually sometimes felt my nose was too long.

I want improvement but scared of too much change!

readyforrhino1
I want a softer looking more feminine tip, fix the droop but not upturned looking, straighten the septum and basically just refine it. But I am so afraid of it looking too small!!! Most of all I am scared of people noticing when I am still swollen. I have 2 weeks off work....hoping that is enough. My husband does not want me to do it but says he supports me because it's something I have wanted for a long time. He said he loves my nose which is so hard to hear when I have done nothing but hate it for so long. It's hard not to second guess yourself and wonder if it's all worth it....
