For as long as I can remember, I’ve had bags under my eyes and the last year or so I noticed a lot of extra skin on my upper lids as well. Overall, I’m healthy so I got sick of looking so worn out despite feeling good and getting enough sleep. After doing a lot of research, mostly on this site, I decided it was time to take the leap and I’m really happy I did. As early as 7- 10 days post op I could already see a big difference.

I took arnica and bromelain starting about 2 weeks before the surgery. Based on other pictures I’ve seen on this site I can’t say if either worked. I look as bruised or more so than others with the same procedure. However, I may have looked much worse if I hadn’t taken them. The bruising on my cheekbones lasted for at least a month but after about 2-3 weeks I could cover it up pretty easily with make-up.

Everyone at Dr. Mabourakh’s office is extremely nice and answered all of my questions. I was fairly nervous and called the office regularly with questions leading up to my surgery. It was always easy to get through to someone and wait times on the phone or in the office are short. I really appreciated that when I returned to get my stitches out (not looking so great) I wasn’t in the waiting room for more than a minute.

Despite all my questions, there is one thing I wasn’t prepared for: how much my eyeballs hurt. Wow! I expected that for the first couple of days so I only took two days off work (Thursday and Friday plus the weekend) and then started working from home the following week. Begin back in front of a computer so soon was a mistake and I really strained my eyes. I put prescribed eye gel in my eyes at night for the first 4-5 nights and used eye drops all day, every day for about a month. I was told this type of eye pain (extreme sensitivity) isn’t unusual, but I was not prepared for how much or how long it lasted. If you have any issues with dry eyes prior to surgery this could happen to you. It took a few months for my eyes to get back to normal. That said I don’t regret the surgery at all I just wish I’d taken more time off to rest my eyes.

Everything said, two thumbs up! Dr. Mabourakh did a great job and I would certainly recommend him to someone else. The results are significant, but also look natural which is exactly what I wanted. It’s so nice to wake up in the morning after getting a good night’s rest and actually look well-rested. I’ve received a lot of compliments on how I look, which has been a great confidence boost. I should have done this sooner!

can you say what kind of operation the doctor performed?

I had an upper and lower blepharoplasty and also had some fat injected into my cheekbones.

Wow, what a difference on both your upper and lower lids! They look great! I had my uppers done and looking to also do my lower lids too but extremely nervous about that. Do you know if fat was removed or repositioned? Did the doctor also do a canthopexy?

I did have some fat injected into my cheekbones in addition to having my upper and lower lids done.

This is inspiring. I just had upper and lower blepharostopy 5 days ago and I don't like the way I look.
