I've been struggling with the idea of whether to...

I've been struggling with the idea of whether to remove my implants or replace them with smaller ones. I thought they were too big from the beginning, but I met my husband soon after and he loved them. I also had no problems with them physically, until the last couple years. I started having all kinds of pain problems, including my neck, shoulders, and back. I also got really sick of having to wear 2 bras to the gym, and that wasn't enough. If I strapped them down with an ACE bandage, I could feel somewhat comfortable.
I'm a big girl: 5'10, 170 with very broad shoulders. My boobs make me look enormous. I have saline implants, 550 cc's. Because of my broad back, I wear a 38D. They are very wide and fall out a lot laterally. My monsters would be an E or F on a smaller person.
I had my original surgery in 2000 in Beverly Hills. I saw one of the Doctors who was part of the mainstream plastic surgery shows at the time. I made the mistake of letting him have "artistic freedom". I have to say, my frame can actually wear these beasts and look normal. He did an amazing job of making them even (I was quite a bit bigger on one side), and my recovery was surprisingly easy. I actually saw him a few years ago to discuss much smaller implants, and he basically patted himself on the back when I took my shirt off. He wouldn't do it. His work is truly amazing, but he's not the best listener.
To add to my obvious physical issues (neck and back pain), I've suffered dizziness, joint pain (in hands, elbows, hips), fatigue, and I can't seem to concentrate or focus. I realize that there is no science behind women with auto-immune problems and breast implants. All I know is that I've read enough stories about women with similar issues who felt dramatically better or had symptoms vanish after removing implants. I know the power of the mind is incredible, but I need to know whether my implants are causing my issues. Hence removal instead of replacement. My Dr. ruled out lupus but wants me to have x-rays on my hands and hips. She wants me to try antihistamines for fatigue. I just want to feel good again. I've always been an athlete, so having so many physical issues is very frustrating. Also, the implants are incredibly ANNOYING!! Holy crap I'm sick of the bouncing and the weight!
Now that I've decided to explant, I'm overwhelmed with all the info on capsule removal and drains. My implants are saline and I don't have any issues with contraction. The first PS I consulted wanted to do a full capsulectomy with drains... for $7500. The second consult was the opposite... no capsule removal, no drains, no compression for $2500. I'm going on my third consult tomorrow with a female surgeon. I hope she's the one!
I want to thank the other brave women on this forum for helping me arrive at my conclusion to explant. You're all beautiful and amazing! The more I read about foreign objects in the body and how the body reacts to them, I can't wait to get them out. I'm so ready to be free!!

I found the Doctor! Love her!

I'm feeling really great today after deciding on a doc after my consult this morning. She actually recommended doing what I had originally wanted to do... intentionally drain the implants first. I think I'm still vain enough to consider putting smaller implants in, based on what they look like deflated. I'm a little embarrassed to say that, considering all my explant talk in the review. I obviously wasn't convinced. Regardless, I can't wait to have the weight taken out! She actually offered to do it today but I freaked. I wasn't prepared for that kind of change TODAY!! But next week is entirely possible for draining! I was excited that she brought up the idea that I was completely confident about just a couple months ago, but my first consults talked me out of it. I'll post pre-deflation pics soon.

I was almost a full size larger on my left pre-BA. The doc did a good job of evening them out. My left is now bigger again because I gained weight. Can't wait to lose the 2.2 pounds of saline!
