I have always thought that people who have plastic surgery are either really rich or have to look really good for their job or both. And if you can afford it... then what is wrong with getting a little help to feel your best? However my surgery journey didn't start out that way at all. I would say that I have always done my best to take care of myself and while my body was not going to be perfect I was ok with it the majority of the time. Then I had the very unfortunate experience of encountering a life threatening infection called sepsis which left my mid section disfigured and completely "not me." In order to save my life I lost several internal organs which resulted in a scar that resembled Frankenstein. On my small frame the sight of it really took over my body and it was all that I could see anymore. Also, my skateboarding muscles that I so heavily relied on were loose and uncontrollable resulting in me having to give up several sports (i could not balance). After careful researching I came across Dr. Clark. I began communicating with the doc and her staff on-line which for me was key because I am very shy and terribly nervous after surviving sepsis. Dr. Clark and her staff reached out to me and made me feel so comfortable. When I go into the office I feel like an old friend. I am about 10 days out post op from my stomach revision or "tummy tuck." So far I am so pleased with my results although I am currently going through swell hell right now which is completely normal for this stage of the process. The surgery itself was such a breeze...I talked with Dr. Clark right there at my bedside and that is the last thing I remember...which was good for me! Dr. Clark and her staff are turning my horrible sepsis memories into positive healing memories as a conclusion to my sepsis. I have so much gratitude for the care I have received at this surgery center. I felt completely safe, have a woman doctor, and am healing in a positive direction. For me, it's the mixture that dreams are made of...but lucky me... it's my real life. :)

I wanted to show you guys more of my story in case you were interested in how a repair would look after a major scar in the abdominal area. My scar looks so poorly from sepsis because the surgeons could not close me (better for bugs to crawl out than in) so it healed so gross.
The last photo is me just a few days post tummy tuck/muscle repair. Those are the drains that i am holding which you will have too. It's not a big deal mine were in for about a week and they help with swelling. Under my shorts is a lot of swelling and bruising. It's normal. I can post lots of more tips and photos if you guys are interested...let me know...I know for myself i read everything that i could b-4 i decided on getting a tummy repair. Of course my main concern was infection after what i went through. After being laid up in ICU in respiratory failure in 2014 I will never make a medical decision lightly! I am happy to say i am healing nicely and right on time thanks to Dr. Clark.

I had sepsis in 2008 which left me with a three week stay in the hospital, 3 bad heart valves, and COPD so I can relate to your story. I'm glad you are well and your TT looks good and will have great results once healed.

How did you end up with sepsis

Pink73, thank u 4 your question...this is the short story version...i went in outpatient for a uterine ablation for heavy menstruation....during the procedure the doc immediately knew she perforated the uterus so she checked for other damages when that occurred...all of my tests were fine so i was sent home...unfortunately the bowel had also been perforated slightly twice...i was admitted to the hospital the following day but they really didn't know what was wrong with me other than an infection...the following day i was unable to breath and sent into emergency surgery where they found the perforations...the fun part is that my insurance denied all my hospitalizations and operations based on their opinion of 3rd party liability...it took a lot of money to keep me alive so it is quite a mess...and yes we went ahead and paid for my TT repair out of our own pocket...despite the fact that we don't have it financially...i am an art teacher with a young family to support so we have been at the bank in a lot of meetings 2 say the least...thanks for your kindness...Kendra
Oh my goodness, I can't believe what you have been through. I am so happy for you being able to have this fixed. Your tummy looks great and I think you will be completely happy once the healing process is done and swelling is gone.
