WORTH IT
I had a vaginal tear back in 2011 which I had my last child at UMC hospital and I was sewed up. Afterwards I started having so many complications with constipation and not being able to hold my bowel or urine it would just come on out. I was going to different doctors and having all kinds of surgeries and it was really causing me to give up and depressed and miserable and everything. I didn't know which way to turn to not knowing what all this could be and causing the situation. I have 2 kids which one has sickle cell disease and pulmonary stenosis so its been hard trying to see bout her and also battling with me staying sick and bowel backing up and sometimes even just using on myself cause I couldn't hold it to go to the bathroom so that made me scared to eat. To make a long story short, I was referred to Dr. John Baten at Women's health Associates in flowood,ms were he immediately took a look and broke it down to me and what all he could do to help me out and give me some relief. We talk and I agreed with him on the surgery. He told me I didn't have nothing down there to hold anything I had an abnormal connection between my rectum and my vagina where my rectum(anus) was together with my vagina so everything was basically coming out of my vagina area my stool and all. But when I tell you I was so happy to been able to just talk to him and let him do his job my God he did a great magnificent job on me. I never felt this good I mean lord Jesus he really touched my heart I prayed that the lord let me be able to meet a doctor that's willing to find out what's going on and be able to help me out cause I was on the urge of suicide but God answer my prayer and I thank God for Dr. John Beaten and his staff. He does such a wonderful job and when I saw the before and after I couldn't do nothing but cry and rejoice. He made me feel good about myself now and make me have my confidence and self esteem back. I would recommend him 100% cause he is the man! Great job to Dr. John Beaten on his work cause I tried doctors and doctors but he stepped up and said I'm going to help you feel better after all the rest didn't want to reconstruct it he said I will do it ain't no need for you to keep suffering like this I'm willing to tell you what's going on and what I'm going yo do to fix it and he did just that. I'm still in tears of joy my soul is happy and I thank God once again for allowing him to give me my life back and my smile! He's my angel sent from God. Thanks Dr. John Baten,M.D., FACOG

Welcome to the community, so glad you took the time to share your personal story. You have been through so much and I am just thrilled to hear that Dr. John Baten was able to fix the connection allowing you to regain normal function down below and regain your self confidence - I can't imagine how tough that would be. How was your recovery?

Even though it is 4 years since you first posted your story, I wanted to write and tell you how much you touched me. I, too, have had many surgeries on the inside and outside of my vagina, and for many years I suffered with a level of pain and disability that was destroying my life. I am finally in much much better condition and I truly understand your joy at having had the correct diagnosis and surgery to restore the quality of life that you surely deserve, especially as the mother of a child with special needs. Isn’t it a miracle what meeting the right doctor can do for you? I’ve been fortunate to have had skilled surgeons but having one who is skilled AND compassionate is life-changing. I had my most recent surgery in March of 2019 and this was to finally restore my sexual health. The surgeries I had prior to this one were all primarily functional (for example allowing me to urinate without self-catheterization) but I finally found a surgeon who believed that sexual health was as important a function as being able to go to the toilet in one normal fashion. And it is! It’s a vital part of our lives as women and we deserve to have this! You cannot imagine how many times I was told that this (sexual pleasure) was not urgent. Really? I wonder how many people would say this if theirs was impacted by injuries? I bet not many. So, I hope that all this time later you are still feeling so good, and I pray that your daughter is doing well also. Thank you for sharing your story.
