WORTH IT$9,000
I am 66 . Recovered from bilateral breast reduction last year- THAT was truly worth the costs!
Now working on renewing/ improving facial features. Had lower face lift on Jan 30,2017. Day 3 of recovery- lots of swelling, a little bruising- mostly on the neck, some nausea. Some pressure type pains in cheek areas and back of ears where sutures are. Pains are more severe at night . Not bad enough to call doctor Griffin yet- I am taking Tylenol- 2 every 6 hours- which is fairly adequate until I can drift off to sleep- the sleeping on 3 pillows, on my back, doesn't help with my discomfort but I am keeping my thoughts on good results. I am not taking the narcotic pain meds because I really hate the zombie feelings...the swelling seems better today but there is some pain in the left cheek and suture area today.. trying to take the Tylenol at regular intervals and praying that I am not damaging my liver. Doc and Kate Griffin have been so kind and concerned , advising me to call or text anytime. I am trying to be a good patient though and not bother them every day. I know that time is the healer and between it and my doc and his precious wife nurse, Kate, I feel like I am in good hands.

Congratulations! I am 65 and had face and neck lift 3 months ago. You are in your first week, and it is important to control the pain so that your blood pressure does not go up. If you can take the narcotic with alittle soft food it helps with the zombie feeling. I alternated with Tylenol and took the narcotic at night to help me sleep. I also wrote down the time I took each medication so I would not damage my liver, taking Tylenol. The first 2 weeks I slept in a recliner chair at a semi sitting angle. The 1st two weeks of your recovery were very restrictive for me: no bending over, control pain at all times, sleep with head elevated, don't pick up anything heavy...seems like there were a lot of rules. But it is all worth it. Looking forward to seeing your pictures, good for you in going ahead with this. I think it is the best thing I ever did for myself and it has brought me back 10-15 years of looking younger. The other day at the grocery store, I caught a glimpse of my image in a mirror as I passed the eggs...and for once I was pleasantly surprised that I did not scare myself.

LOL- love the "not scaring myself"! I am 6 weeks post op now. I still have some slight swelling and a little numbness- mostly around the left jawline area. Thx for your comment!

Help, I had my surgery last Tuesday. I am on da 4, and swelling has not subsided one but. When did you all first notice a reduction in the swelling? Any minute reduction would be most welcome. This morning, I asked my fiancé who I resembled more.. MS Piggy or Mrs Shreck.. he said Mrs Shreck!! WAAAA!! He said if it were Halloween, I could simply apply green make up and I'd be set!

It's lovely to work with a family practice like that. :) Are you doing anything beyond the Tylenol to help keep yourself comfortable?

Nothing but Tylenol! Worked fine!

Do you feel itching and burning in your face?

I am sorry but I am just seeing this. I am extremely happy with my lower FL. I wish I had had the money to do a complete lift but I will pray about that. I do not remember any itching or burning on my face. I will try to post an updated photo. Now I am thinking of a lower bleph an some fillers- also lip plumping- very unhappy with my lips.

6 weeks post op FL

I am app, 6 weeks post op my FL. Some slight swelling and numbness remain around the left jawline area. No pain or discomfort otherwise . My pic makes me even more anxious to get more work done for the eye bags, the uneven, thin lips, the "bunny" line, and complexion issues. Ugh.

68 and Working on Me at Last

I knew I wanted to do something further after my breast reduction and weight loss. I could finally wear pretty bras and not look frumpy in my clothes: spent most of my life being glared at and being asked if I was my sisters mother. When that dear sister said that I was looking more like our grandmother, I knew that I needed more work. Dr Griffin to the rescue! He suggested a lower face and neck lift so I made the decision to splurge on it. I am so pleased with the tightened skin and the missing neck waddle.????. The pain was minimal, the followup was phenomenal - I couldn't be happier with my results.

Thank you so much!!!

I completely agree with what you say. So true, life is too short to feel sad every time you look in a mirror. Now, if only I could take that step...
July 27, 2017
I also agree with one of the comments above. You absolutely do look great and far younger than your age. Inspiration for me!!

Did you have any work in the eye/brow area? Your brows appear a good bit higher and the eye looks more open as well. Great after pic!

Dear Grace, I had an upper bleph by Dr O'Dell about a year before the lower FL. Very pleased- it made a world of difference in my appearance. No brow lift though... but thank you!
July 15, 2017
Thanks for your response. It is really hard to maintain the same expression across multiple pics....so sometimes brows are higher.

Did you have any dry eye other "issues" from your upper bleph~ beyond the first week or two? Your eyes look great. Guess you didn't do a review of that but would love to have seen the starting point. Where is Dr O'Dell and how did you make the choice to use him? tks, grace

Dear Grace, I did not know about this site when I had my upper bleph so that's the reason there is no review. I will try to find a pre- bleph pic to post for you though. I may have one I made right before I went in for the procedure when I had on the little brown turban with which they fitted me. I was brand new to the medical spa world so I just researched different sites, Their procedures, and the distance from me. I made an appointment for the free consult at Genesis Medical Spa where I was shown before/ after pics , given a tour of the facility , and a detailed review of the costs and pre- requisites for the procedure by Mary, the certified esthetician... Everyone was so very kind and the facility atmosphere was clean, calm, and relaxing. Dr O'Dell is very patient and kind, a very personable doctor. He even provided me with his cell # for any questions and concerns. I only had to call him once and he was so very kind and understanding. I was happy with my results..

Great info ...do you remember the cost of the upper bleph with O'dell?

Dear Milly, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I have always been told to get moving as soon as you can- no matter how small or insignificant that movement might seem. But, of course, keep in mind those doctor's orders too!!

It sounds like you and your sister have a nice relationship at least......open and honest. With my sisters there is an unspoken competition. No one admits they had anything done. I hate that.

Dear Milly, you know what? My sister and I are somewhat like that- I don't say anything though unless she asks! I DID tell her, though, about the breast reduction because it was classified as "medically necessary". She knew that my breasts had been too large for a very long time . I had told her of the problems I had had because of Mother Nature's "oops" and how much I hated having to put up with it any longer. Next time you see your sister, compliment her on one thing and just casually ask if she has "had something done". Should make her feel good if nothing else. Remember though sisters don't tell each other's "secrets"!

I’m glad you didn’t have any complications.
