My top teeth have been crooked for as long as I can remember. Years and years and my mum never took me to the dentist, let alone the orthodontist. So it was time for me to bite the bullet. And for purely vain reasons I decided to go with Invisalign.

I had my first tray fitted last Friday and was sent away with my second one. At the end of the second tray I have to go back for my attachments. No IPR which is a relief!

So I got my first tray as I said, last Friday, which was also 2 days before my birthday. This made for a tricky first weekend. I have a jam packed social life so I am worried about it a little but hey ho! I am adamant that I will wear the trays for at least 22 hrs and so far I think I have. Literally take them out to eat and clean and that's it. Over the weekend I was drinking with them in but since then its just been water. I don't really want to stain them. I have been brushing my teeth after every meal but I dont think thats something that I will do forever.

Pain wise, for my teeth has been pretty much fine, but sensitive to eat but I can live with that. What I cant live with is the fact that they have sliced my tongue up!! Honestly, the amount we pay, I would expect the edges to be finished smoothly. So a few days of packing dental wax in my mouth seems to have solved the issue. Today is my first day without dental wax and so far so good. I don't really struggle to get them in and out, but I can imagine it will be more difficult with attachments. Oh and i have a lisp, bit annoying but hopefully that wont stick around long.

Im away for a hen weekend on Friday so a little concerned about that but I'm sure if will be fine. I will just be that strange lady brushing her teeth in the toilets....

Will update again after my attachments have been fitted.

My top teeth are the main problem, bottoms aren't too bad. On that note, only 10 trays for the bottom teeth. Does anyone know what I wear on them afterwards while my top teeth are still moving?

Would think you'd need a retainer for bottom?

You'll wear an aligner to hold the bottom teeth in place, just like what you'll wear at night when your treatment is done. My treatment will be similar - my top teeth will be "done" before the bottom teeth are straight so I'll wear an aligner on top.

Tray three and attachments

So its been a while, 4 glorious weeks to be exact!

In that time i have had a hen weekend and both mine and my husbands birthdays. So yes, I have drank with my trays in...alot. I dont drink red wine so cant really comment on staining but I have probably drank every colour under the sun (cocktails will do that to a girl) and I have had no problems. Drink plenty of water through the night as well and a thorough clean before bed.

The hen weekend was only one week after my first tray which was a bit daunting as I hadnt hoped for any major social events to begin with. Anyway, it was fine. Missed out on a few bits like nibbles before a night out but I wasnt fussed. I have also lost 6lbs since getting my first tray, which shows how much I must have snacked!

I had my attachments and tray 3 fitted about an hour ago and so far its fine. The attachment process was a little uncomfortable but it was over quickly.

I'm missing a few silly things, such as the fact that I have a lovely meal and then loose the taste immediately due to brushing my teeth. And cooking things like pasta and rice. I rely on tasting them to see if its cooked. We have very hard rice one night! But other than that, invisalign suits my life and has fitted in well.

Oh and I have stopped cleaning my trays with toothpaste. Just use water now and it all seems fine.

Hiya, I'm glad to hear your treatment is going well so far. My teeth are similar to yours in as much as my 2 front teeth are almost hiding the tooth next to them. I am now on tray 17 and have seen major improvements. Keep going xx
