Finding Balance: My Rhinoplasty Experience

WORTH IT
I want to share my rhinoplasty journey from 2023 with Dr. Rod Rohrich that reshaped both my nose and perspective on beauty. As someone with mixed Filipino and African American heritage, I've navigated different beauty standards throughout my life.

Growing up in California, I felt my wider nose didn't quite align with either of my cultural backgrounds. After finishing graduate school and securing my first professional position, I decided to explore rhinoplasty – something I'd considered since my teens.

My research led me to various surgeons, including Dr. Rod Rohrich. I found numerous Dr. Rod Rohrich reviews online that highlighted his expertise in ethnic rhinoplasty. While I did come across some bad reviews for Dr. Rohrich, his overall reputation and specialized knowledge impressed me. I scheduled a consultation to form my own opinion.

Dr. Rohrich's office staff was professional and thorough. During our meeting, he demonstrated genuine understanding of the unique considerations for patients with mixed ethnic backgrounds. He explained how he could refine my nose while respecting my heritage, which gave me confidence to proceed.

I traveled to Dallas for the procedure. The facility was modern and comfortable, and Dr. Rohrich reviewed my goals once more before surgery. He listened attentively and seemed committed to achieving the balanced result I wanted.

Recovery went generally as expected, though the initial reveal was surprising – as it often is with rhinoplasty. When the bandages came off, my nose looked dramatically different, but the staff reassured me that swelling would subside gradually.

As months passed, my nose settled into its new shape. The result is a good balance – more refined and harmonious with my facial features, while still connecting to my heritage. The bridge has more definition now, which I appreciate, though it's somewhat more prominent than I initially envisioned.

While exploring Dr. Rod Rohrich patient reviews online, I noticed experiences vary considerably. Despite some bad reviews, I found that my own experience was largely positive. Every rhinoplasty patient's journey is unique, and proper research is essential when choosing a surgeon.

For others considering rhinoplasty, especially those from diverse backgrounds, I recommend finding surgeons with extensive experience with patients of your ethnicity. Be very specific about which features you want to preserve and enhance.

Two years post-surgery, I've grown to appreciate my results. While there are small aspects I might have chosen differently, overall Dr. Rohrich achieved a balanced outcome that respects my ethnic features while providing the refinement I sought.

This experience has been valuable not just for the physical changes but for the perspective it's given me on beauty standards and self-acceptance. I've learned that surgical results, like most things in life, may not be perfect, but can still be worthwhile and satisfying.

How did Dr.Rohrich help make sure your new nose still looked natural with your mixed Filipino and African American features? What advice would you give?

Hello! Great questions!
As far as advice I would say:
- Find a doctor who's actually worked with people who look like you before. Check if they have real experience with ethnic rhinoplasty - don't just take their word for it, look at their before and after pics.
- Be super clear about which features of your nose you want to keep that connect to your heritage. Like, "I want to keep my nose width but just refine the tip" or whatever.
- Keep it real with your expectations - your results might not be Instagram perfect but can still look good and make you happy.
- Remember your nose is gonna look wild right after surgery - all swollen and weird. That's not the final look, so don't freak out.
- Do your homework - check out both the good and bad reviews to get the full picture before choosing your surgeon.

Dr. Rohrich really listened to me and I also had photos of others who's nose I admired and who I thought may look good on me and he was able to help me recreate this vision.

Thank you so much for this! I saw in your post you traveled to Dallas, TX for the procedure. Did you come from a different state and how long before traveling home again?

I stayed in Texas for about 11 days before heading home. I've read reviews where people have try to fly home sooner and I just couldn't imagine doing that. So I planned and took time off and stayed put.

This is great! I have a friend who went with Rod Rohrich as well and she was happy with her results! I'm considering him but I want to first do all my research like you said. Thanks

I want to say this is also the same that happened with me! I was able to show the Dr some pictures that I liked on others, and then in combination with my nose, he was able to help me find the perfect happy medium, and I am extremely pleased with the results!

just came across your comment, and I'm really glad to hear you had a good experience with Dr. Rohrich. a girlfriend of mine actually flew from washington to dallas to see him too and couldn’t stop raving about her results. most of the reviews i’ve come across from him (that seem legit) all seem super happy with their outcomes. super encouraging to see that kind of consistency from a well-known name in the rhinoplasty industry.

quick question—how far along are you now in your healing process? anything you wish you’d known going into it? or anything that didn’t go perfectly that would be helpful for others considering him?

Sounds great and I’m happy for you. What was the cost of the procedure?

I really can appreciate your review! I'm so happy to hear that another person had a great experience! I had a big nose that really bothered me from the side profile. Dr. Rohrich was extremely helpful to me, keeping the heritage behind my original nose while fixing the side profile I was unhappy with! I can't recommend him enough! He really takes his clients' wants and needs into consideration before the procedure! So I am happy to see that someone else had the same type of experience as I

Thank you for sharing! I’m also researching Dr. Rohrich. Did you feel the bridge definition settled more naturally over time, or does it still feel more prominent than you expected?
