Finally went forward with mole removal!

I had a mole removed yesterday from my right cheek. I had been wanting it removed for about 10 year so I am just excited I finally was able to do it. I went to Dr. Schmidt in Denver for the procedure. At my consultation, he took pictures and conducted an exam first. Then we talked about the pros and cons of excision vs. shaving the mole. Because the mole is located in the middle of my cheek in a pretty prominent spot, he recommended shaving the mole. The pros are that this method doesn't require stitches and will leave a smaller scar. The cons are that it might grow back but there's no way to know if that will happen. I was nervous about the scarring and just the process of getting stitches on my face so I went with the shave method.A week after my consultation (yesterday), I was able to go in for the procedure. It was pretty simple. I washed my face at the office, he injected local anesthetic which pinched a little (felt similar to injections I have had at the dentist so no big deal really), then he shaved the mole and placed some tape-like bandages on it. No pain during or after the procedure. I went home and picked up a prescription for antibiotics which I will take for 3 days just to lessen any chance of infection.Last night, I made the mistake of exercising a bit though (which was actually on my post-op list of things not to do). I was dancing around and that brought my heart rate up, and then I noticed some blood coming out of the taped bandage. I applied pressure to the wound with a clean tissue and stopped moving to bring my heart rate down, so I think it's fine but I wish I hadn't done that. So yeah I will not be doing any exercise for about a week so I can get it healed as much as possible! It also was a tiny bit painful (2/10 on the pain scale) last night because the numbing wore off but this morning when I woke up there has been no pain at all. I will post pics of before, right after the shave, and a pic from today that shows the aftermath of the exercise incident. Going forward I am going to leave the tape bandage on and try not to get it wet at all. In the shower today I put a big waterproof bandaid over the whole area so that no water seeped into the tape, which I think worked well.

The scar is healing nicely. I got Biocornieum silisheild with spf and use that on the scar twice daily. I will post a couple pics of what the scar looks like now. It’s still a little red but it can easily be covered with makeup. My skin is red anyway so it kind of blends in with the rest of the redness. Overall super happy with the result! Wish I had done it sooner
