I was VERY misinformed. I have never written a review on anything until now. I had Orbera put in on November 8,2016 & I have never been so sick in my life. I took all 4 anti-nausea medications but nothing helped. I lost a lb a day because I could only sip liquids. I have abdominal spams & pain that radiated from my stomach to my lower back. I was so bloated & swollen that I looked 5-6 months pregnant. I knew that the first 24-72 hours were going to be rough & that I would feel nauseated until my body got used to this foreign object but I can't even put into words how ill I was. I paid $6,000 to make myself sick. I highly highly recommend that you do more research about this before jumping in with the dream of losing weight. I learned a very expensive lesson: If you want to lose weight the healthy way then you eat less calories than you burn no way around it.

I had mine put in October 13th, and while I agree that the first two weeks were difficult, I started at 238lbs and today November 27th, I'm at 209lbs! I enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday and look forward to a cruise this Christmas! This is a much better option to being put on the chopping block, I guarantee! Do what you can to be the best you can be. I understand that everything isn't for everyone, but discouraging an inexpensive option that only causes nausea as opposed to severe pain, knives, bleeding, scars, possible infection/death is one sided. I hope you feel better soon and that the benefit of your attempt to better yourself begins to show results.

Would you mind telling me how you are feeling today.
We are (were) the same weight. Anything you can help me with would be great. Thanks

Hi! I just got off of a 10 day cruise and can honestly say this works! Not only did I not gain weight, I lost an additional 3lbs!

I felt fine as soon as I got it removed. The diet they wanted me on with it in was basically all liquids. My body rejected it as in my stomach cramped up around the balloon & would not let up.

That's awful, and honestly a full liquid diet isn't even reasonable or realistic. I hope you're doing better now and find something that really works.

They only way I have seen an adult manage a full liquid diet is in the hospital after some SERIOUS incident.

THANK YOU!!!!! It's awful & of course you lose weight on thimbles of liquid.... not for me

Are you going to get it taken out?

I had it removed just 2 weeks after it was put in. I just couldn't handle it. I lost all my money.....

Hi, I got mine put in 4 days ago and feel so awful! I honestly am wondering also if I stuffed up, I m starting a new job in 3 days (I only had this one week off between jobs), and I'm freaking out how I ll manage next week. I m so illl right now, I can't even keep fluids down. I m vomiting all the time, the nausea is terrible and the cramps are like child birth! I m also worried I would have to have it removed early, and I m worried in my new job, I won't be able to even get a day off to have it removed. At the moment also very dehydrated.

The first week is really awful. Try to get some Popsicles and rest. I hope it starts to let up this weekend, the vomiting, dry heaves and cramps are NOT going to allow you to work and showing up at a new job with health restrictions puts you at a disadvantage, they don't know you yet. Ice chips will help. Rest.

Thanks for your reply. Today is day 5, haven't vomited so far, really praying I ll be ok for Monday. Cos I can't really not start. Although week one s only orientation. Another thing is lethargy. It's horrible I m sleeping all the time. Is that normal too?

January 20, 2017
Sleepy is normal. No fuel, no energy, you will be extremely weak almost irritable. Try watered down apple juice ice cubes. Sit up, let them get in. If they dont come back right away try some cream of chicken soup, 3 tsps. of nothing fancy and 1 saltine. See how you feel. If you need to vomit, hold your nose tightly to minimize disgust. Rinse. Rest.Try again, once you are able to hold a little more, try to add 1/4 tsp raw apple cider vinegar with a shot glass of cut apple juice to help minimize the acid reflux. That *burning feeling is awful. Get some gum. Chewing gum may help. You need solutions to get you by so you appear normal until you get better. You are on your way, I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks so much for your support!!! I couldn't do it without it, its good when someone has actually done it. Gosh I thought I s have to dish before my new job and have it removed. I ll keep going. Almost end of day 5, and I haven't vomited. Held up more fluid in today. Will do an update soon .

I experience the exact same thing!!! in the months I had the balloons and I had more sick calls for work and I have ever had my entire career! so disappointed in this procedure and it was so expensive. I wish I would've had the LIFO suction done instead of this!!

Sorry for the grammatical errors in my typing, I used Siri when I wrote my comments.

Amen! I also made a huge mistake. I had the procedure 2/8/17. And I have never been so sick and weak in all my life! Can't even keep water down let alone nourishment. I'm writing because I would not want anyone to this. Mine was 7,000.00 $. Not even the meds stay down. I was definently deceived on this one! I'm am sooooo sick and home bound from the entire procedure. I will be getting it removed as soon as they call me back with a removal date.
