I have been wanting this done forever. I was blessed with my Dads huge nose, my Uncles huge ears and lack of chin area. I have been teased for my entire life and now at my age with the support of my family I am finally going to end the teasing. I am ready to go out with my hair up for the first time ever and not worry about being made fun of.

I am 2 weeks pre op today!! Time is really starting to fly by. I do have a question for those who are full time glasses wearer. How do you do it? I am blind as a bat without mine. I asked my Doctor he said oh that's so easy you just tape them to your forehead. Does that really work?? Just hoping someone can give me some ideas or let me know how well that taping works.

Hi Dawn, I am so excited for you. And I must say I cant believe you are 51! You have no wrinkles, but that is beside the point. I read your concerns regarding the use of eyeglasses after rhinoplasty. I fabricated a way to wear mine (I was shocked when I found I still had the visor in my stuff) and thought it might help to share it with you. I could not get tape or foam to work. What I did was take a visor and on the underside of the brim I put a loop of thread and strung a twist tie through it. Then I suspended my eyeglasses off my face by using the twist tie at the corner of the frames. This likely makes no sense, so I put 2 pictures on the web for the next 7 days. Maybe this will inspire you? the downside is you have to wear your visor to wear your glasses. http://www.tiikoni.com/tis/view/?id=6808097 http://www.tiikoni.com/tis/view/?id=8b9376d I wish you the best, and I know how happy you are going to be

Thank you for the wonderful compliment. I must admit that even though I got the nose and ears of the family I did get the least wrinkle free skin!! Thank you for the information about the glasses. At home I'm sure I would be able to do that but not at work. So duct tape it is across my forehead!! I'm kidding about the duct tape at least I hope I am. Thank you for taking the time out to reply to my post and thank you again for the information!!

I can't believe in 4 days I will have what I wanted to do for as long as I can remember. I also keep forgetting not only am I having Rhinoplasty but also Otoplasty and fat transfer to help with my weak chin. I chose not to go with a chin implant. Hopefully that wasn't a mistake. I definitely wish I could have had this done when I was much younger but oh well better late than never I've always been told. But the years of endless teasing even to this day will always be with me. I guess my parents thought the teasing would end and it was just a kids thing to do. I never told them how traumatized I was by all the picking and pointing and name calling. The ones who would come up behind me and thump my ears. Even now my Mom can't understand why I want to have my ears done. Never in my life have I ever been able to go out in public with my hair up or in a pony tail or wear short hair. Guess what?? In 4 days that is all gonna change. I'm gonna go out with a pony tail and don't care what it looks like and be proud! Then I'm gonna get a nice flattering hair cut and not be embarrassed if my ears are sticking out. I'll also save quite a bit of money on hairspray. This is such a life changing event for me and I'm so happy I've found a place where I can share all this. I am so ready to do this. I want to thank everyone that has shared with me and sent me such great support!!

First off-- you do not look 51! I had to read that twice. You look great! Secondly, it is posts like yours that helped me decide to have my nose done after years of half-serious thoughts about it. I didn't want to wait until I was older and wish I had done it sooner, so thank you for giving me the courage! I hope we both enjoy our results for many, many years to come.

Thank for the nice compliment. I am so glad that you have found the courage to get this done. I wish I would have had it done so much sooner. Better late than never though. I can't wait to follow you through your journey and so many great people on here to help you with it. I am so excited for you and it is definitely one of the best decisions you have made.

Wow thanks so much! I can use all the support I can get. I trust my surgeon but am nervous about surgery on my face for obvious reasons. Would you rate your first few days after surgery as more pain, discomfort, or misery? Were some days worse than others? It seems like the first day isn't as bad as day two or three for most people

Oh my gosh my nose is huge!! I thought it was just big but it is huge!! I have the ugliest nose I have ever seen. I never thought I would ever be posting a picture of just my nose or letting anyone see my ears but here they are. Not for much longer though. I am so excited!!
