I will begin by saying that my surgeon, Dr. Hardaway and all her support staff were great! Amazing! And did a very good job. 3 months PO, I am pleased with my results. I must be honest and say that recovery was TOUGH having two major areas of my body done at the same time. WEEK 1 & 2: Sitting completely still, I was fine. But once I had to move (bathroom, suggested walking) it was HELL! Hardly any independence. Tough to go to the bathroom. The showers and changing dressings were gross and uncomfortable to do. I wish I had a nurse to do it for me! Day 5 PO I had the biggest breakdown. Be prepared for the psychological part. I did experience regret, feeling like Raggety Ann during recovery. It was til the point where I didn't care or think about the results anymore, I was more concerned about being back to my normal self. I was completely dependent on my husband, family & friends. I'm used to being on the go. So sitting because I couldn't move without pain...all day all night...was challenging. I didn't take any meds for pain after the first week. Maybe I should have...most would have, but I'm not big on taking prescriptions, so I declined.I'm happy that I did both Tummy tuck and thigh lift at the same time, but I paid the price in recovery which had me regretting the whole thing during the first two weeks. The doctor explains having these feelings. But I didn't realize how real that was until I had to experience it. I'm no drama queen, so I didn't think it would happen to me. WEEK 3: Still tough, but I tried to do things on my own. I'm walking hunched over, which kills my lower back. I was able to go down to my living room and sit, but not as comfortable as my recliner. I slept in a recliner that stands you up for 5 weeks. The bed was a challenge. My advice...plan to be off of work 3-4 weeks. Plan to have plenty of support! WEEK 4: I was feeling great, but still a bit stiff and mild pain. Showers and dressing changes are easier, out of the house, straightening up my walk. Not 100%, but I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. After week 5, all was good. At week 7, my results looked soooo good. So, despite all of the recovery woes, ask me if I would do it all over again...Yes I would. Sounds crazy, but it's like after childbirth. You know it was hell, but the pain fades and the rewards outweigh the painful labor memory.
