The real deal
So I'm 26 days post op. Almost 1 month. I just wanted to post the honest truth about liposuction for abs, flanks, thighs. First off - the recovery is way different than outlined by doctors and even those here on this forum. Yes, your activity level is back within a few days (but absolutely not 100 percent). I would say the first few days you are 80-90% NOT yourself. By the end of the first week you can walk around - do light housekeeping (that's about it). You absolutely can't exercise (spin, cardio, strength train). The swelling lasts much longer than you think. Even at 4 weeks post op I'm still swollen and bruised. I was petite before the procedure and definitely have fantastic results. I weigh about 105. I'm 5ft 1". And have a fit physique. But I just felt the real deal needs to be posted. If you are truly an active person with workouts 4-5 days a week then getting back to your normal schedule doesn't happen in 3 or 4 weeks post op. Just saying..... I want everyone to have true, honest, realistic expectations. You are sore to the touch, your skin feels like it could rip from your muscle and swelling is absolutely still present. I bruise easy so I'm still bruised (not a heck of a lot compared to day 3 -7 but still bruised and tender). I can do squats, and moderate exercise - sleep still sucks - abdomen / hips sore and compression garment still leaves imprints). Just wanted to leave an honest post. On the positive side - I've got a kick ass contour.

Thank you for posting today!! I am 5'2", 118, looking to do inner/outer thighs and knees, perhaps flanks...fit and strong, but can't seem to thin this part of my body to where I want it....I do exercise 6 days a week but I'm prepared for not being able to for weeks. I told my husband after several consults how doctors make it sound painless and recovery of "a couple of days" and "most women have the procedure done on a Friday and are back to work Monday"....so I was preparing myself for a "harsher" recovery and if it's a bit easier than expected, great!! Are you going to post any before and afters for us? I love those side by side.....! I would gladly trade several weeks of exercise for a nicer contour even with some lost sleep and discomfort, it's still work that for a quarter versus many more years trying to work off something that will never go away....right?!
I am pleased with my results so YES I would have to say its worth the sleepless nights and discomfort. Like you, I definitely worked very hard to get in shape, but just couldn't shed the stubborn fat pockets. I also had a family crisis that slowed me down for 6-8 months. So working out kind of halted. My husband was NOT on board at first. After 3 years of debate, I finally just said I'm doing it regardless of support. The doctors do make it sound painless with a short term recovery, but I don't agree. I have a high tolerance for pain too. I took pain meds the first 2 days and after that it was tolerable. I guess I'm just annoyed because I am a super active person and this has absolutely slowed me down. I am not complaining, I just felt others should get a true idea of what will happen. My abs hurt the most. Thighs (not so much). I don't know how to do side by side photos. I had pictures up, but I didn't feel I was getting much input, so I took them down. I can repost them .
The more pics and review updates you post the higher your review will rank on the site and more people will see it and comment- it can take a while at first before your review gets a lot of community action, which I get can be frustrating!
I love what you said about having a better understanding of the recovery- the expectation is out there that the healing process is quick, but it really isn't. Is your hubby being more supportive?
Hi, whew, I'm glad you said it was worth all the pain. No pain, no gain in this case, right? My husband is really reluctant as well saying I look great just the way I am, but I won't wear shorts, and I don't like being in a bathing suit. Just because a few tiny things...that COULD BE FIXED with surgery. So I'm doing it, he will support me once I have the work done but I can already see him nodding his head when I'm in pain, like a "I told you so"! I am appreciative you are sharing both the good and the bad. YES, repost! Even if we have to scroll to do our own comparison with before and after. That's what I'd like to see anyway if you can....
Thanks Jill. Appreciate your support. It is hard enough to make the decision to have surgery and often many feel a bit selfish however response from others experiencing your same trials is so helpful and absolutely uplifting. My husband is okay with my decision but I kind of kept things to myself. No-one knows what the real deal is unless you've gone through it or talk about it. So in fairness to my husband, I didn't talk about it. I will post some new pics. Thanks
My husband was absolutely like yours. But I guess I didn't feel the same. I was reluctant to wear shorts and dreaded the beach/bathing suit attire. I also so get the "I told you so attitude" so I kinda kept my recovery to myself... Never complaining. I didn't want the "nod" haha... I will repost.
I can also see myself getting mad because I brought it all on myself.
I am going for a consult at the end of this month. My height and weight is close to yours and i was interested in doing the exact areas you had done. I was curious to know what the estimated cost was if you dont mind sharing. I am clueless as to what to expect for costs.
What does your stomach look like today? I’ve read so many bad reviews on lipo on the tummy region. Lumps and what not. I’m getting too scared to have it done.
Did you do local or general anesthesia?

Day 3 post op
Moving around easier. Still very sore. Compression garment digging in to abdomen. Any suggestions to help with this discomfort?
