we spend so much money on so many trivial things decided to invest in my smile. Only con that I can think of is a little bit of a lisp for the first couple of months. don't be deterred it gets better. I have not had any pain as some had mentioned. it's almost too easy. just don't forget to brush and floss. make sure you have a travel kit so you can always be prepared.

Yes, my lisp has finally improved after the first month. It is still there, but it is heck of a lot better than week one.

That's good progress took me forever to get rid of the lisp.

when I found out I had 65 trays I just couldn't believe it. I thought, are my teeth that messed up. But if you want something you need to work at it, so I decided to just do it. Take pictures of your progress it will keep you motivated. In the beginning you will see little of no progress but within 3 months you will start to see results. If you were to ask me if Invisaline is invisible I would say for the most part yes. I have attachments on my teeth and no one has mention anything only people who know are the people that I've told.I waited for the longest time for one of my friends to call me out on it. the joke was the winner would get a bottle of wine so far looks like I'll be drinking it myself.

Hi, I found some very useful information on the Real Self site before I started my treatment. So I'm hoping my experience will help somebody else.
Maybe I'll switch to white wine for the summer lol..)

Thanks for sharing. Do you know why you need 65 trays in total? Do you have to wear any elastics?
June 25, 2015
Sorry, I meant to ask clarification if that is 65 trays on the top, and the bottom, or just 65 combined?

Hi Chila,
My treatment does seem rather extended 65 trays top and bottom. I can understand 65 trays for my upper teeth because of a tooth rotated 180 degrees. My lower teeth are crowded and part of my treatment is to have my arch widened rather than removing a tooth.
I don't need elastics, funny you should ask as I was just asking my orthodontist my last visit trying to prepare if it were necessary, and thankfully it's not.
My treatment is going well and I replace my trays every 10 days rather than the traditional 14. I'm still looking at about another year and a half but I'm so used to it I forget I'm wearing them..
Hope you find this information
useful.

Thank you Daniel! Have you considered using the acceledent device to speed up treatment time, or maybe it is not offered by your orthodontist?

Chila,
I don't know if my orthodontist offers acceledent. I replace my trays every ten days so I don't know if he would allow the process to move any faster? I'll check next visit, it would be interesting to see what his thoughts are regarding ecceledent?

Thanks for the info regarding ecceledent.

Hi Daniel,

I began invisalign myself a few months ago, and my ortho does 10 day changes as well. However, I've got acceledent and he is allowing changing every 7 days. You could look into it :).

Thanks for the info that would definitely shorten my time to completion. I need to check with my ortho next visit.
Thanks

How funny! I'm starting with 66 trays (66 top and 66 bottom). I have severe crowding on the bottom, and moderate crowding on the top. I, too, have a rotated tooth that will take some time to rotate back before it can be shifted into place. My orthodontist has me changing my aligners every 7 days, or weekly, without Acceledent. He didn't advise the use of Acceledent for my treatment.

Unlike you, I'll need elastics. I have a deep bite (80%) with a 6mm overjet and those will need to be corrected with the use of elastics. It slows down my treatment by about 30 trays, but it's necessary if I ever want a straight smile. My orthodontist is also widening my arch using Invisalign to make enough room to properly align all of my teeth without extractions.

Should be interesting! I'll be following your progress.

Hi, I remember my first visit and seeing my orthodontist with two boxes of Invisaline trays.. That's when I realized this was going to take a while, but I'm not complaining, more trays just means more progress.. Same as you my upper rotated tooth will take some time to get in proper position. As to elastics, I ask my orthodontist last visit and he said that wouldn't be necessary, but I can't help but feel like he may change his mind, either way I'll do what needs to be done to achieve good results..

I should also mention that my bite has changed dramatically my lower jaw is now is centered properly. I noticed in some pictures that my lower jaw was out of position before starting Invisaline.

Just a quick update. I'm starting tray 16 today and as usual, no pain no pressure. Sometimes I wonder if anything is happening.

Hi,
Thank you, the movement is so small from tray to tray but thankfully some progress as of lately.
I called my ortho,s office enquiring about acceledent and the person on the phone was not familiar with it.. I'll be going to my monthly visit next week and will ask my ortho directly.
July 13, 2015
It does seem like other people can notice the changes even more so than ourselves. I suppose it's because we look at our teeth everyday? I hope they can provide you with more information on the acceldent device! I guess not all dental offices are familiar with it. Good luck :)

Hi Chila,

I completely agree its so hard to see change and progress when we are looking at our selves. this is true for so many things and Invisaline is no different. Also wanted to let you know I did inquire about acceledent and unfortunately my dentist is not with excellent

Sorry to hear :(, but I know the progress and changes you see will help to make everything feel like it is going by quickly enough anyway!

Hi Chila, yes looks like I'm sticking to a ten day tray change, but I must say things are going well.
Hope your treatment is progress as expected and going well.

I have the same issue for most trays... No pain, no pressure. I wonder if the trays are doing anything when I don't feel them pushing, pulling or rotating any specific teeth, and have asked my orthodontist a few times. You mentioned that your arch was being widened, however; my orthodontist informed me that I won't notice those movements as much as specific tooth movements. It might be safe to assume that your teeth and gingiva are bring pushed outwards to widen your arch if you cannot feel specific teeth being shifted into alignment?

Hi,
Sounds like you're treatment is going well and I'm glad to hear that the discomfort is minimal. In some reviews people have mentioned the need for Advil when starting a new tray. My progress for my upper teeth seems somewhat slow, however I'm seeing improvement in the lower teeth.
Don't know if you have seen the clin check video of your progress from beginning to end?  As you mentioned my teeth will be moving forward, straighten and then slightly back into position. The video definitely helped me understand how my treatment would be progressing and what to expect.

I'm looking forward to following your progress as we both have about the same amount of trays and some of the same problems..
