I had cheek implants 10 years ago, and as my facial fat eroded over time, the implants stuck out more and more. Each cheek had a bump where the implant was, a valley under it, a little bump in the center of the cheek, then another valley at the nasolabial fold.

I showed the doctor that I wanted the two valleys on each cheek filled in, and said it would be bad if all that happened was that the space in between them swelled up. But that's exactly what happened. I know he injected the fat into the valleys, but there's no evidence of that now. The area in between, though, is swollen up (7 months post-op), so each cheek has 2 valleys separating 3 prominent bumps.

Perhaps worse is the continuous pain. My cheeks hurt, just a little, 24 hours a day. They hurt right now. Sometimes the right one twitches.

His surgical technique was to scrape the cannula up and down under the cheek. I have no idea why. I would expect you could just reach in once under the cheek with the cannula and inject, but there was a lot of scraping. So I suppose what I have now is damaged nerves and scar tissue.

He was very friendly and was always available to talk before the procedure, although after the procedure, when I called to say that my cheek was twitching spasmodically, he never answered. I don't mean to say that he's a bad doctor, only that I got bad results.
