Office Review: Questionable Consultation Policy
ORIGINAL POST
Questionable Consultation Policy
I called the office of Dr Andrew Jacono, whom I had found on social media, not on a personal recommendation. His office staff informed me that he was booked for months, but that I could arrange a phone (Skype) interview, for $300 which needed to be "secured" with a credit cared. I was not comfortable with the phone consultation idea, but I was continually reassured that the "world renowned" doctor who was in "incredible high demand," did this all the time. I asked about the cancelation policy, which was very vague and did not appear to be a real policy at all. But I was looking at other plastic surgeons and since the phone consultation was almost 3 months away, I figured I had plenty of time to cancel. So you can imagine my surprise to find that Dr. World Renown, had charged my card in full the day of the initial phone call. I have been quite a few very reputable physicians who have not charged in full although they may have secured the visit with a credit card. From the start, this business policy of Dr Jacono felt different, the staff more adamant about collecting cc information, more focused on reassuring me about the "renowned" doctor and I even wonder if there is a financial incentive for them built into this scheme. It felt very scammy like a dialing for dollars operation. I want to state that I am not discrediting Dr Jacono for his skill as a surgeon, that I know little about, but I am questioning this business practices.
I was able to get a full refund when I called to cancel my phone consultation, but I do feel that the community at large needs to aware. I will also note, if a doctor is truly world renowned, does he/she need to label themselves as such?
