WORTH IT
Hi there! It's been about one month since I had facial feminization surgery with Dr. Bryan Rolfes in Wayzata, Minnesota, so I thought I'd share my progress thus far.
I had surgery on Dec. 11, 2019. This surgery included a forehead reconstruction with hairline advancement, rhinoplasty, lip lift, mandible contour and a tracheal shave. These procedures were covered by my insurance through my employer. And I had a two-night stay in the hospital, although Dr. Rolfes did permit me to leave after one night.
Dr. Rolfes said healing can take up to six months to get a clear sense of what you'll look like. But because I'm returning to work this week, I wanted to give an idea of what one can look like going back to work a month after surgery.
I know how mind-boggling it can be to find a surgeon to trust with your face, and I'm so happy to say I'm already amazed by my results. In such a short span of time, the dysphoria I've constantly felt in my life has changed dramatically. I can take selfies, be in pictures with other people, without hating myself and needing to throw filters all over the photo just to feminize my face. I can't begin to describe how thankful I am.
Keep in mind I do still having swelling in parts of my face, particularly in my jaw/chin. And near my hairline incision you may notice a "bubbling" appearance. The doc said this is totally normal and will disappear over time as I heal.
Anyways! Here's some before and after photos (I may post more over the next months), as well as a couple initial recovery photos of me looking like a mummy. If you have any questions, I'll happily answer them to the best of my ability.

Almost 5 months post-op.
Just a couple more pics of my face since having FFS with Dr. Rolfes! I think the side view photo can be especially helpful if you’re wanting to compare my brow to what it was before.

He seems to have consistently good results and no complications. I wish I had him as my FFS doctor.

A final update!
Hi all! It’s getting close to one year, so I thought I’d share a couple more photos one last time.
Overall I remain extremely pleased with my surgery. I think Dr. Rolfes is quite the artist and would 10/10 recommend him to anyone seeking this type of surgery.
If there’s any questions I’ll try to answer them, but I’m mostly making this final post to show the progression over time! Thanks all!

Nice, but you need some fat grafting on your forehead to get it more round in my opinion, but even without it you look great.

You are looking even better after 11 months. I've been following Dr. Rolfes' work for a while and haven't seen one case where ti turned out bad. You made a wise choice. Congratulations!
