Facial Fat Transfer Removal

Facial Fat Transfer Removal

WORTH IT
I'm posting this review because I searched for years on this topic and I found a lot of suggestions, but I didn't find anyone that had had a successful result.
I had facial fat grafting done 5 years ago. The result was a lot more than I had bargained for. It was not terrible, but it did completely change my look and I didn't feel "like me"
Over time it looked uneven, but mostly it was just too much fat for my usual angular face.
While researching fat removal I saw the options, injections, liposuction and of course surgery, I read how complicated it was and I even saw one doctor in the US who refused to do it.
I have been to Dr Caloca in Mexico many times before and the only reason I didnt contact him first was because I had moved from CA and I thought the extra travel would be an issue (it wasnt)
I had a mid face lift with facial liposuction and the result it beyond fantastic! I gave the doctor a photo of how I looked before (8 years prior and a very flattering photo) and I swear I look just like it - even younger:)
While I was there I also did upper and lower eyelids.
I flew to San Diego and a driver picked me up and took me to the Hotel Lucerna (where I have stayed before), the doctors office is directly opposite. The hotel and staff are so nice I was almost looking forward to the stay. The following day I met with Dr Caloca, he had total confidence about the result I was asking for. He fully explained the procedure, we discussed the placement of the scars, how much I love my hair :) recovery, risks etc
I did my blood work (in the same building) and met with an awesome cardiologist who cleared me for surgery.
The surgery suite is the nicest one Ive ever been in (and Ive been in a few) and I saw that the photo I had given the doctor had been pinned to the wall - this made me feel really at ease. When you do surgery you want to feel that the doctor really understands what you want - by the doctor keeping the photograph and having it right there in surgery really made a huge difference to how I felt as I went 'under'
Waking up in the private recovery room. I can get a little sick with surgery but I was totally fine. I stayed a night with the private nurses and then Dr Calocoa himself took me back to my hotel room where I stayed for 5 days. Im sure I could have left and gone back, but I chose to stay in the hotel (i have done it before) until the stiches came out, 5 days later.
The Hotel Lucerna stafff are great, they will bring you anything you need. I had brought work with me so I did that, ordered room service and watched movies (all channels are available) he days zipped by and Dr Caloca checked on me frequently.
Recovery - because of the facial liposuction I was quite bruised but there was very little pain. My eyes were swollen and I had a big bandage on so thankfully I had brought some old glasses that went over the bandages. I wasnt able to wear my contact lens comfortably for about 2 weeks.
Day 5 the stiches came out from my eyes and in front of my ears. Wow, do the eyes heal quickly, within a week you can barely see the incisions.
By week 3 I had my hair pulled back behind my ears with just a dab of concealer. Within 5 weeks I was back to my ponytail.
The stitches behind my ears had to be removed 3 weeks post surgery and I could have gone back to Dr Caloca but I booked with a local surgeon who removed them (and commented on the 'excellent' work)
When I returned to the US a driver picked me up from the hotel and took me straight to San Diego airport.
If you are concerned about Tijuana please don't be. If you don't want to step a foot outside you don't have to, but the area is really nice. Before surgery, I went to some great local restaurants and of course to the Starbucks opposite the hotel.
If you are scared to do a facelift, that facial fat grafting surgery and recovery is a million times worse/longer. If you are concerned about the cost there is obviously a huge benefit of going to Mexico but rest assured you sacrifice notithing in service. I am fortunate enough that I could have done this surgery in the states but I chose (again) to go to Dr Calcoa.
If you have had facial fat grafting that didnt work out for you I understand how you feel, I know how badly you want to reverse it all.
I am absolutely 100% "fixed" I have my 'photo' perfect face back, the scars have vanished and I couldn't be happier.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I'm glad it was such a great one! Would you be comfortable including photos?

This would be a miracle for all of us in this boat...can you please even if privately share some photos smiling? And resting...but smiling so important, as most people like me look really bad when smiling, thanks x
Cab you share how much it all cost? If you aren’t comfortable posting, would you feel okay using DM?

Thank you for all the details. I’m overfilled too, and every time I see my face in a mirror, I feel so upset (and angry). It sounds like you had even more fat grafted on your face than I did, but I could be wrong. Mostly, my cheekbones are heavily padded with fat, and it looks weird. I look like Roger Waters when he was younger (extremely wide cheekbones). They are also uneven.

I also have the problem with smiling, which is just crushing. I’m still trying almost two years later not to smile big. That’s really hard when I was told so often before that I had such a great smile. Not anymore—devastating. I’m sure you relate!

Thank you for the review.
I'm still waiting for a response too,..
So sorry just seeing your replies. I did FL but added lower and upper eyes for total 6900. The eyes I believe were 2900. I am happy to share photos privately. I truly understand your pain. I am now 3 months post and I'm thrilled. When you talk to Dr Caloca you will be at ease, his patients travel from all over the world. I've had quite a number of surgeries and Dr Caloca and his surgery suite are the best I've been to. Please dont go broke trying to fix this. Dr caloca is not a salesman, he will give you an honest answer on what to expect. I will also send him my photos to help others in this situation
Can you please send me your before and after pictures. I too am having this problem, it has been 5 years now. It would really help. You’re giving me hope. Thank you
She hasn't replied to me yet...i hope is true and not false hopes.
hello, I have had the same problem - I am looking for a solution to the overfilling can you please send me some photos privately . thank you
