Disappointing Experience with Facial Fat Transfer: A Cautionary Tale
lucia89April 21, 2024
As someone who sought out facial fat transfer to address volume loss caused by previous treatments, I embarked on a journey to rejuvenate my appearance, albeit conservatively. Unfortunately, what ensued was a disheartening experience that left me with deep regret and dissatisfaction.
Upon consultation, I clearly communicated my desire for subtle enhancement, focusing primarily on under eyes, forehead, marionette line area, and cheeks. Emphasizing the importance of conservative treatment, I trusted the surgeon to understand my goals and execute them accordingly. However, what transpired during the procedure deviated significantly from our discussions.
Instead of the targeted areas, an excessive amount of fat—10cc—was injected above my marionette lines, contrary to my wishes and the agreed-upon plan. This not only failed to achieve the desired rejuvenation but exacerbated the appearance of deep lines, a concern I never had previously due to my naturally slim features.
Compounding my dismay was the lack of transparency and communication from the clinic. Despite my repeated requests for before images, they were withheld until three months later, revealing blatant editing that attempted to mask the unfavorable outcome. It became evident that the clinic was unwilling to acknowledge their mistake and opted to gaslight me instead, dismissing my concerns and altering images to create a false narrative.
Four months post-procedure, the area treated with excessive fat transfer presents a worsened appearance, resembling nasolabial folds that were never a part of my facial features. The overall outcome not only falls short of natural-looking results but also serves as a stark reminder of the importance of choosing a provider with expertise in facial fat transfer and a genuine understanding of individual facial contours.
In hindsight, my decision to entrust this clinic was a regrettable mistake, driven by uncertainty and a lack of due diligence. I caution others against making the same error and urge them to listen to their instincts, especially when navigating cosmetic procedures. The aftermath of this ordeal serves as a poignant reminder of the repercussions of disregarding one's initial reservations.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend this clinic to anyone seeking facial rejuvenation, particularly those aiming for natural-looking results. My experience underscores the necessity of thorough research, clear communication, and trusting one's instincts when embarking on any cosmetic journey.

UPDATED FROM lucia89
9 months post op/ no improvement to face and liposuction area painful and botched by Dr Semih Yildiz.
lucia89October 6, 2024
This is my 9-month update after surgery with Dr. Semih Yildiz, and sadly, the outcome has been disastrous for both my face and body. In our initial consultation, Dr. Yildiz said I didn’t have enough fat in my stomach, but when he examined the area, he acknowledged there was fat in the midsection, which I already knew. I specifically asked for a conservative fat transfer to my face and made it clear that I did not want fat taken from my thighs due to visible scarring.
Despite having enough fat in my mid-stomach, Dr. Yildiz decided to take fat from my lower stomach, near the bikini line, where there was little to no fat. This has left me with a crater-like deformity in my stomach that resembles a C-section scar. He never informed me about where he would extract the fat from, but based on the intense pain I felt post-surgery and what I saw during my recovery, I realized it had come from this area. 9 months later, I still experience pain, tenderness, and soreness there.
To make matters worse, Dr. Yildiz also took fat from my thighs, despite our discussions about avoiding this area. I had warned him that I am prone to keloid scarring, especially as a person with brown skin. As a fashion model, I was clear that I couldn’t risk visible scars. Now, I have noticeable keloid scars on my thighs that make me uncomfortable in a bikini and self-conscious around my partner. Despite using silicone scar gel, nothing has helped, and the clinic provided no aftercare or scar management information.
The outcome of the liposuction has left me with a deformed, painful stomach and thigh scars that I was assured would not happen. Additionally, my left cheek remains overfilled, which has aged my appearance significantly. I am now dealing with anxiety, self-consciousness, and depression as a result.
I am sharing my story to help others avoid the same mistakes.

Thank you for sharing your story to try to help others. My experience (different doctor) has similarities to yours. Not many reviews address problems in the harvest areas and the problems can be significant; especially in people like us with little fat. Have you found anyone with experience to help either the harvest sites or face? I sincerely wish you the best. I know how it can completely derail a life.

Hi Delph, thank you so much for your kind message. I’m really sorry you’re going through something similar, it’s true, hardly anyone talks about the issues with the harvest areas, especially for people with low body fat.
As mentioned before, I’ve seen surgeons in London, Germany, and even had online consultations with a few in Turkey. Unfortunately, they all told me the same thing: the fat in my face was placed too close to the nerves, and because the placement is poor and uneven, removing it isn’t possible without risking more damage. They all noted the imbalance and sagging which has aged me significantly.
Regarding the harvest sites, no one has been able to fix those either. What makes it more frustrating is that I actually had enough fat in the correct areas (central stomach and thighs), but the doctor took it from the bikini line as in the pictures where I had almost none, leaving unnecessary scars and contour issues. Every surgeon I’ve seen since questioned why he harvested from there.
Im thinking to get fat transfered there which can be taken from my thighs or try a few non surgical approaches to work around the area to reduce fat which can help minimize the look of the area.
Have you found any solutions?
I genuinely wish you the best too. It really can derail your life, and it’s comforting in a sad way to know someone else understands. Was your doctor based in Turkey, Europe, or the US?

Right now, I’m trying HIFU treatments and hoping that with time my body will gradually resorb the fat. Sadly, the surgeon also botched my lower stomach by trying to take fat from an area that had virtually none. To make things even worse, he took an unprofessional selfie in the theatre while I was unconscious with him smiling and giving a which I only discovered afterwards when I was already feeling unsure about what he had done. It was so disrespectful and completely vile.
I truly hope things improve for both of us. If I find anything that genuinely helps, I will update you. Please feel free to reach out anytime if you want to share your experience as well. You’re not alone.
