I Highly Recommend Dr. Law: He is Worth Traveling For.

WORTH IT
I have a long, thin face and had undergone changes in facial contours and decreases in overall volume due to normal aging and an aggressive CO2/VBeam/IPL laser procedure. Following this bad outcome I wanted to do something to look better but decided that for several reasons, I did not want to fill multiple areas of my face with hyaluronic fillers. I began looking into facial fat transfer online and learned about Dr. Law. I read many reviews, watched his informational videos, and looked at his extensive portfolio of before & after pictures on his website. Dr. Law has more examples of fat transfer work than any other physician I researched.
I ultimately underwent two facial fat transfers with Dr. Law in 2018. It has been a little over a year since my first fat transfer, and 7 months since the second transfer. Through everything my experience with Dr. Law’s office has been exceptional. I was very pleased with how Dr. Law addressed my concerns, explained everything very clearly, and gave me realistic expectations. He was very easy to talk to and I felt confident that his opinion was sound due to both his knowledge and experience. In addition Dr. Law’s staff was very welcoming, professional, and thorough. The communication with the staff and Dr. Law was clear and consistent.

Out-of-Town Patient Experience
I do not live in Raleigh, but had no problems with traveling to Dr. Law for these procedures. I live on the west side of the country and I researched many plastic surgeons in the West, but none had the style, philosophy, or photo examples of natural and conservative facial fat transfer results that I was looking for.
I found that Dr. Law’s practice runs like a well-oiled machine for out-of-town patients. Every detail of my care was planned and taken care of, from drivers to the plastic surgery center, an aide to stay with me in the immediate hours following the procedure, and of course with the actual procedure itself. The attention to detail by Dr. Law and his staff gave me confidence in what I was undertaking and demonstrated how professional this plastic surgery practice is.
A word about Raleigh: It may seem strange to go to a city in North Carolina for plastic surgery while living across the country, but this decision turned out to be the perfect choice for me. I traveled alone for both procedures. Raleigh’s airport is small and easy to get into and out of. Uber transfer to and from the hotel was simple with no traffic problems for both of my trips. The hotels the practice recommends are near the surgery center, and the one I chose was private, quiet, and accustomed to having Dr. Law’s patients as customers. Raleigh is clean and felt very safe. Everything was easy about both trips, likely much easier and cheaper than San Francisco or LA or Seattle.

Fat Transfer in General
Overall I am very happy with my results. It seems to me that fat transfer can be tricky to get “right.” A surgeon needs extensive knowledge of facial contours and experience with this procedure in order to fill facial areas enough to make a difference but also not so much that the patient looks noticeably or negatively different. Dr. Law’s considerable experience with fat transfer and exceptional aesthetic eye contribute to him getting the amount of fat transferred as well as individual facial contours correct.
I feel my face looks very good compared to when I first went to his office. I have had small areas that have not taken the fat as well as other areas, but overall my face is not as drawn and thin as it was. My forehead, temples, brow area, and brow/upper lid junction look great. My cheeks and creases around my mouth have also held volume very well. My lips are slightly more plump but not too much, which is perfect. Dr. Law performed an upper blepharoplasty during the first procedure which was also done conservatively and I am very pleased with that result. Because the blepharoplasty was done with fat transfer to that area, my eyes look natural and are no longer hollow. Before the fat transfer my eyes were very hollow following the C02 laser to my eyelids and brow area, which was very aging.

With any cosmetic procedure my goal is natural results that are as undetectable as possible. I’ve seen so many pictures of people or have known people who have had cosmetic procedures done to their faces to look better but instead look manipulated, puffed up, fake, or just different. After these procedures with Dr. Law I feel I look healthy and good for my age, but still myself. I am so glad I decided to go through with the fat transfer and I highly recommend Dr. Law. I would return to him for any other procedures I may have in the future.

Hi travelertaurus, thank you so much for your detailed review. Your experience is deeply appreciated, since I'm also planning to consult with Dr. Law for fat transfer, and since I will be traveling to him by a plane too. How was your healing process? I hear some people have swelling and bruises for 2 months or more, which is much longer than they expected originally.
Hello IVD70: I was pretty swollen and a little bruised for the first week. I didn't have plans to go anywhere except home in the days and week following the procedure. The second week is definitely better and the swelling goes down considerably. I did not have bruising that lasted for months. I did notice though that although the initial swelling went down and I could see more of the result after 2 weeks, my face changed a little over the following months after the procedure. I feel like you need to give it time to see how much fat will remain and how you 'settle in' to your new face. I think it totally depends on the area where fat was transferred to as well. If you have fat transferred to your lips, the swelling lasts for several weeks. It goes down from the initial bigger swelling, but I had slightly bigger lips than the final result for awhile. Also, if you are having eyes and tear troughs done, glasses help immensely to hide the swelling and any bruising. If you don't wear glasses, buy some cool dark-rimmed glasses with just glass in them. I wore glasses or sunglasses all the time when I was healing and it helped disguise things a lot. I did not have much pain during the healing process except during the first few days.
Thank you, travelertaurus, for your details. Your sharing about the process is of tremendous value to me and women like me. Victims of facial treatments that caused our fat atrophy. I lost fat traumatically - due to a treatment with overheating rays. You had that painful experience as well. I lost fat all over my face and neck, and even my lips lost fat and became thin. I will need fat transferred all over. It gives me great hope that I will be restored when I read that you're happy with the results after two fat transfers. From what you're describing, at least 2 months of a healing time will be required, I think. When did you feel your face settled? Also, after two fat transfers, do you feel that ALL areas eventually took? And most importantly, do you feel like it's YOU that's looking back at you in the mirror? Meaning, the YOU that you had before your laser procedure, with your own unique facial features.
Travelertaurus I’m going to pm you :)
Would you be so kind to PM me also? I am also researching far and wide and have decided on Dr Law for my procedure because he seems to be among the most experienced but also showing restraint to create a natural look. I’m still nervous tho because I’ve read that some women that are peri-meno or meno have a lot of reabsorption of fat. I’ve read some women reabsorbed unevenly and this causes them to look disproportionate and asymmetrical. Did he warn of this? I too had CO2 laser and then IPL three times. It melted my fat, created pores etc. After dedicated care, dermaroller with prp and tons of natural emollients, castor oil, msm and drinking lots of collagen my skin has definitely improved. But I miss my full face! I look so different and it wish I never tried the laser. Now I’m hesitant to do anything permanent unless I gather all the facts so I can live with my decision no matter what. Could you tell me if you’re happier than you were before? Thank you so much!
Yes, heard this from another friend and am researching him. Thank you gor your review.
