WORTH IT
My Forehead Fat Transfer Experience at Girin
After years of feeling self-conscious about an indentation on my forehead, I finally decided to get a facial fat transfer in Korea. I researched two clinics and chose Girin Plastic Surgery in Sinnonhyeon due to their great reviews and diverse clientele.

Consultation Process:
I had an online consultation with Anna, who guided me in English and provided clear options and pricing. My in-person consultation with Dr. Keon was reassuring—he was thorough, patient, and answered all my concerns. Feeling confident, I booked my surgery the same day.

Surgery Day:
Originally scheduled for early January, I had to reschedule due to illness, and Girin prioritized my health first, which I appreciated. On the new date, Yaya, another kind translator, helped me feel at ease. The surgery process was smooth—nurses prepped me, explained every step, and ensured I was comfortable. Dr. Keon performed the procedure, and I barely felt the IV before falling asleep.

Post-Surgery Experience:
I woke up groggy but calm, with minimal pain—just soreness in my thighs. Seeing my very swollen forehead was a shock, but I was thrilled the indentation was gone! Aftercare instructions were clear, and I used waterproof bandages for showers. Stitches were tiny and barely noticeable.

Results & Follow-Up:
As expected, some fat metabolized over time, and a second round is usually recommended. I noticed my forehead moves a lot, which may have affected retention. Still, pain was minimal, and aftercare meds were available at the pharmacy below the clinic.

When I returned for stitch removal, both Anna and Yaya checked in on me, and another consultant assisted me seamlessly. The process was quick and painless. Dr. Keon noted the fat absorption but was pragmatic about the next step.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with Girin’s service—professional, caring, and efficient. I look forward to my follow-up treatment!

Thanks for sharing! How long did it take for the swelling to go down, and did it change much over time?
Did the texture or firmness feel different as it settled?
Are you happy with the shape so far?
Hope your recovery is going well!

The swelling took around 2 weeks to go down to not be noticeable to me. I didn't have much fat on my forehead to begin with so it felt softer to the touch but understandably I don't try to put pressure on it full stop. Happy with the shape, but I am hyper aware that the filled in spot has regressed.

My Forehead Fat Transfer Experience at Girin (part 2)

My Forehead Fat Transfer Experience at Girin (part 2)
Initial Aftercare / second surgery pre care:
In April, a couple of months since my first fat transfer, I returned to Girin Plastic Surgery in Sinnonhyeon.
However, though I had a very positive initial experience, I felt somewhat despondent about it second time round.

Surgery Day:
I was met by a new translator who was nice, but unlike the previous times, didn't want to engage beyond getting me in and out as smoothly as possible. I had to have photos taken of my face and profile. The attendant, instead of seeing that I had difficulty in using the headband provided (Girin should perhaps consider clients beyond those with a certain hair type) stared at me until I put it on and I felt embarrassed.

After my pre-surgery consultation with Dr. Keon went well I left a bit more positive. However when I returned to the reception, I was asked to pay for the added botox. Fine, but the abruptness with which it was asked instead of checking how I was feeling was surprising. The surgery this time round felt chaotic also — double the amount of nurses prepped me, didn't engage with me and it was clear my translator was also overwhelmed so she didn't seem to acknowledge me - only to ask my weight.

Post-Surgery Experience:
The surgery was under the time given and again I woke up with no pain— just a tightness on my forehead, however I was much more groggier than before and asked to be escorted back to sleep it off longer.

There was no aftercare provided, my translator was nowhere to be seen. Luckily I was familiar with the layout, so I changed and left.

Results & Follow-Up:
The forehead had this time been filled in from the top of the indentation point which I was hopeful for. Unfortunately the area filled in, regressed quicker this time. I definitely noticed a rounder shape but I did feel a little disappointed . About a week later I received a message about aftercare.

I have yet to be contacted for my next consult.
I’m still relatively satisfied with Girin. I think with newcomers they're very attentive to show their best side. However I wish the same level of care was provided the second time.

Mine is uneven and bumpy fat graft :-(

where did you do it?

Thank you for sharing your experience. I really appreciate how detailed and honest your review is.

I’ve been thinking about getting a fat graft at Girin as well, so your post gave me a lot to consider. It’s reassuring that your first experience was positive, but I’m sorry to hear that the second visit didn’t feel as smooth or supported. The part about the aftercare and the communication especially stood out to me.

I was wondering if you would still go back to Girin for future procedures or touch-ups. Did they eventually follow up with you for the next consultation?

Your review is super helpful for someone like me who’s still deciding. Thank you again.

They actually haven't been in touch outside of asking for more details regarding my second visit concerns, but I'm not sure if it's because I've had two procedures, and I have to wait for 2 months before I would even be considered for another. I would go back, I liked the initial results, and Dr Keon is kind and confident. Have a consultation and see first (I'm presuming you're here?) and then you will instantly know
