Day 5 - still swollen and asymmetrical
Still swollen on day 5. Asymmetry still apparent - my left cheekbone is super full and high which is very apparent from the bottom up view. Entire left side of my face seems bigger. And my right cheek has a lump in a very unflattering place - next to the nasolabial fold and below the tear trough. Hoping it's just swelling and both will even out.
It's been pretty uncomfortable the past few days. Face is sore and it hurts to smile. Lip swelling has gotten better so it's no longer as painful to eat. Still drinking pineapple smoothies and sleeping elevated. The incision sites have become less noticeable and I feel like I could walk around without attracting notice.

Like the Day 1 Results, Hoping to Keep the Fat
I never thought I'd be one to post pics of my worked-on face online, but here I am. After months of lurking on this site I thought I'd contribute my experience as well. I am super paranoid of putting my photos online so I'll only post partial face pics.
Today is day 1 right after surgery of fat transfer to my face and lip. So far I am very happy with results. It looks really promising and is more or less like what I expected. We went thru pics extensively pre op.
From these before and after shots, I can already tell that there are happy good changes to the contours of my face:
1. My face is more egg-shaped. More prominent cheekbones, smoother contour overall. Bottom half of face looks thinner even tho we took nothing out there
2. Upper lip looks more even left and right. I think she put a bit more on my left side to even me out. Nice and well appreciated
3. Both upper lip are more full. I really pushed Dr. Hessler to put more volume in my lip. I need a lot of help there, yaknow? I think she was only comfortable putting in 1cc though. I am happy with the current result but would be less happy if it goes down significantly. Dr. H said that she typically has an 80% retention rate in the lip. I was like, forreal home girl that would be pretty miraculous? We will see.
4. Philtrum looks shorter. Doc H had suggested a lip lift initially since my philtrum is longer than ideal. But I opted for lip fat transfer only to avoid the cutting and sewing since lip augmentation shortens the philtrum a bit. This shortening is really noticeable to me in the second pic.
5. NL and MAR lines still present but softer
6. The slight tear trough hollowing and mid cheek dip are gone
Devon said that they put in 15-20ccs total. The result looks pretty natural to me. I understand that there is some swelling now so the final result will be more subtle, from a decrease in swelling as well as fat loss. I hope to retain as much of it as I can.
Devon was my pre and post op counsel and has been very helpful with all of my "I heard this helps fat retention" questions.
What I didn't expect were the dark scabs at the injection site! That makes sense and they don't bother me. I don't know why I assumed that they would be like microneedling i.e. invisible. But I will need to wear a face mask around until the scabs fall off.
In terms of recovery, I am drinking pineapples smoothies for the bromelain. Fingers crossed the bromelain will help. Btw, bromelain is only found in FRESH pineapple, not dole cans or dole juice (I called Dole).
I've read that it's best for fat retention and neovascularization to not touch or put pressure on the recipient sites in any way. I am super paranoid of accidentally rubbing my face. I've already moved my lips more than I would have liked while eating so will try to chew and talk less for a couple of days (hence, the smoothies).
I've also read that too much ice will kill the new fat so I will be only gently icing for a few mins at a time.
I feel pretty good now about 6 hours post surgery. Feeling up for doing a few hours of work. There is soreness and stiffness at the recipient sites but nothing that's a problem.
