Botched Fat Transfer to the Eyes and Chin. Horrible rhinoplasty revision

Botched Fat Transfer to the Eyes and Chin
PopinaSeptember 3, 2021
I've been wanting to write this review for many years now, but I did not have the strength to do it. After more than five years of feeling depressed I decided that it was time to tell my story. In 2015 I went to see Dr Guyuron for a revision rhinoplasty. He was recommended to me by some local doctors near where I live. During my revision consultation I mentioned to him that I was a bit unhappy with some small (very small) wrinkles under my eyes and some scar tissue in my chin from a prior surgery. The doctor suggested to do a fat graft into both areas (under eyes and my chin). I remember him saying something like the fat transfer under my eyes would help regenerate collagen or something similar (cannot precisely remember his words, but it was something along those lines). After my consultation, I google the doctor’s work to see how experienced he was doing fat transfers. I found one or two publications which seemed reasonable and gave me the confidence to accept his advice. WHAT A BIG MISTAKE THAT WAS...I so wish I could go back on time and say NO to his suggestion. I still do not understand WHY I was never advised about the following: 1) possible complications are lumps and bags under my eyes, 2) the fat injected into the face will get enlarged if I were to gain weight. That means, the areas where the fat is injected will grow out of proportion if I ever gained any weight. And so, that’s exactly what happened to me. My eyes were left with bags and lumps and my chin has grown out of proportion making me look older and more masculine.
Sometime after my surgery and upon realizing that the lumps under my eyes were not going anywhere, I decided to contact the Dr for a revision. ANOTHER BIG MISTAKE. He once again botched my eyes. My once beautiful almond shaped eyes where now completely botched. He left one of my eyes bigger than the other, plus a lot of scar tissue underneath both eyes. Some years later, in 2020 I decided to have a revision done by a local oculoplastic doctor who charged me U$10,000. After the surgery the Dr said that I had a large amount of scar tissue under my eyes and that the asymmetry could not be resolved. Furthermore, the oculoplastic dr said that I would have to live with the asymmetry because there was no solution to that problem. This made me even more depressed. As per my chin, the fat injected is still there and not one has been able to provide me with a solution. As I mentioned before, the more weight I gain, the larger and out of proportion my chin becomes making me look very manly and older at the same time. By the way, this was something I mentioned to Dr Guyuron and his reply was: don’t gain weight then (the words may not be exactly, but the message was). I still do not understand why Dr Guyuron would suggest such a risky treatment in a patient who did not necessarily needed it. I am currently looking for a doctor who can resolve my chin problem…..

Here are more pictures of my ordeal...Notice the large bags I was left with after the fat transfer. Also, notice how my eyes were damaged after the blepharoplasty done by the doctor in an attempt to correct the overfilled eyes. It left me with scar tissue which I still have along with uneven eyes, which I also still have...

I’m sorry that this happened to you. Can you go to another dr to get it fixed. Dr. Ramesh in nj fixed a feigns of mine (it was a complicated procedure) and he wasn’t very expensive.

I’m really sorry you had negative results. You still look beautiful to me.

I think you look much younger in the final picture though. And maybe the doctor who did it could give you some of your money back if you showed him the results that you don’t like?

This dr will give her anything
I asked him for my money back after he ruined my nose and I’m very not happy and he sent me a layer:) I have no comment for his personality because I can not say anything nice about him!

He only offered to removed the fat graft from my eyes and chin. I agreed to the eyes and it was the WORST mistake I've ever made. He removed too much skin from both eyes changing their shape and making them look very unnatural. In addition (as per the second surgeon who did my second eye surgery), he left a huge amount of scar tissue. Almost as if he did not know what he was doing when he operated my eyes. What a disaster. Why do these doctors do this knowing they can ruin someones life? specially a woman.

You should not let him touch you second time. He offered me same things. It’s tragic someone needs stop him

I agree, but too late now...I had to get a second blepharoplasty to fix the DISASTER he made! Fat graft is unpredictable and he should know that. Maybe he does know it, but does not give a damn about it as long as the $$ keeps coming. As I said, fat graft is unpredictable, so the chances of getting lumps under your most precious thing in your face, the eyes, has a very high chance to occur.

Thank you so much for sharing because we always expect procedures we pay for to help us; it’s natural. But sometimes they do the opposite and we’ve paid a con man

You have a beautiful feminine face still.

still? Meaning, it is ok that the Dr ruins my natural look as long as I still look feminine? not acceptable at all

You are still beautiful woman. Maybe just fix your nose ..make your nose perfect and it will help. A little change in nose is a big deal.
I’m just so angry this Dr. still working without any consequences but all the patients are left with ruined faces and life as well. He reacts as a swindler
