Here are more pictures of my ordeal...Notice the large bags I was left with after the fat transfer. Also, notice how my eyes were damaged after the blepharoplasty done by the doctor in an attempt to correct the overfilled eyes. It left me with scar tissue which I still have along with uneven eyes, which I also still have...
Botched Fat Transfer to the Eyes and Chin
I've been wanting to write this review for many years now, but I did not have the strength to do it. After more than five years of feeling depressed I decided that it was time to tell my story. In 2015 I went to see Dr Guyuron for a revision rhinoplasty. He was recommended to me by some local doctors near where I live. During my revision consultation I mentioned to him that I was a bit unhappy with some small (very small) wrinkles under my eyes and some scar tissue in my chin from a prior surgery. The doctor suggested to do a fat graft into both areas (under eyes and my chin). I remember him saying something like the fat transfer under my eyes would help regenerate collagen or something similar (cannot precisely remember his words, but it was something along those lines). After my consultation, I google the doctor’s work to see how experienced he was doing fat transfers. I found one or two publications which seemed reasonable and gave me the confidence to accept his advice. WHAT A BIG MISTAKE THAT WAS...I so wish I could go back on time and say NO to his suggestion. I still do not understand WHY I was never advised about the following: 1) possible complications are lumps and bags under my eyes, 2) the fat injected into the face will get enlarged if I were to gain weight. That means, the areas where the fat is injected will grow out of proportion if I ever gained any weight. And so, that’s exactly what happened to me. My eyes were left with bags and lumps and my chin has grown out of proportion making me look older and more masculine.
Sometime after my surgery and upon realizing that the lumps under my eyes were not going anywhere, I decided to contact the Dr for a revision. ANOTHER BIG MISTAKE. He once again botched my eyes. My once beautiful almond shaped eyes where now completely botched. He left one of my eyes bigger than the other, plus a lot of scar tissue underneath both eyes. Some years later, in 2020 I decided to have a revision done by a local oculoplastic doctor who charged me U$10,000. After the surgery the Dr said that I had a large amount of scar tissue under my eyes and that the asymmetry could not be resolved. Furthermore, the oculoplastic dr said that I would have to live with the asymmetry because there was no solution to that problem. This made me even more depressed. As per my chin, the fat injected is still there and not one has been able to provide me with a solution. As I mentioned before, the more weight I gain, the larger and out of proportion my chin becomes making me look very manly and older at the same time. By the way, this was something I mentioned to Dr Guyuron and his reply was: don’t gain weight then (the words may not be exactly, but the message was). I still do not understand why Dr Guyuron would suggest such a risky treatment in a patient who did not necessarily needed it. I am currently looking for a doctor who can resolve my chin problem…..
