Just a quick update... and let's talk skin care

Good morning! I am 9 months out and still LOVE my results! I have to be honest - like things are settling in, and I don't look like I'm 20 anymore! But luckily, I also don't look like I'm 102 either.
So, I was using a particular skin care line that was not doing much for my skin. I was starting to notice a little bit of sag again, and just a tired look overall. So last week I went and had a facial which helped plump my skin a little bit. Then, I revamped my skincare. As much as I don't want to spend a flipping fortune on skin care, why spend money on a facelift if I'm not going to take care of it? The first key to helping your skin is to stay hydrated. I am hugely guilty of being perpetually dehydrated. So I've had to remind myself to drink lots and lots of water and flavor it with whatever because I hate drinking water. The next Heat to keeping your skin healthy is to always wear sun protection. I usually have some kind of sun protection on so that's not really an issue. I prefer a mineral block protection over a chemical sunscreen personally - but that is because of a personal history of cancer. The new line of skin care that I am using is called Eminence. I am using their strawberry rhubarb serum an Arctic Berry moisturizer during the day, and then at night I am using the spa line Hydropeptide Nimini cream. Within 3 days I noticed a huge difference in my skin!
I hope you are all doing well out there! I still have some diminished sensation on my cheeks right in front of my ears as well as on the top of my head . But overall I can feel the top of my head - it's just less than what would normally be felt there. It hasn't been a year yet and I'm not worried. Even if it stays like this, it would have been worth it!

Nearly 6 months!

I just wanted to pop in and say that things are going really well. I love love love that I did this for myself. My hair is growing back pretty much everywhere except for one tiny little spot on my scalp but I think there's little baby hairs growing in there. The scar lines across the top of my forehead are definitely getting some hair! The redness of my scars that was behind my ears and down the back of my neck is pretty much gone and hair is filling in there as well. Sensation on the top of my head is returning. I still have some zings in there and it's not completely normal but at least now if someone touches the top of my head I can feel it! Overall I'm very happy. I think if I need to do this again in another 10 years I'll be headed back to Dr. Bitner! Hope you are all well out there.

One last photo from today!

Sorry - I can't seem to go into the last post and add it

Overall rating

So far, I think I am going to be SO happy with my facelift, tricophytic brow lift, and SMAS lip aug. I originally contacted Dr. Bitner in 2010 via email just a couple months after my prophylactic hysterectomy secondary to a personal and family history of breast cancer. Let me just tell you - estrogen is extremely important for maintaining youthful skin!!! Anyway, Dr. Bitner has always been very approachable and honest. In 2010, he gave me his honest opinion that I was not ready for a facelift yet and gave me other options if I chose to do them (I didn't - I just bided my time). This past year, I finally got to consult with him in person and after some wavering on my part, I decided to go through with it. Although the recovery is a little more laying around than I like, and with some initial nausea, I know it is going to be worth it. My brows are up, my jawline looks like it will be 20 years younger, and I think once my lips start moving normally again, they are going to be amazing, because I will actually have some! The thing I love the most about Dr. Bitner is that I can talk to him - he never comes off as if something I have said is outrageous and he is more patient than I could ever expect. I am happy to spread the word about this great experience. Oh - I almost forgot about how fabulous his staff is! Everyone is approachable, kind, and professional. Great experience - and with a history of breast cancer plus working in the health care field, I have had more experience with medical professionals than I ever wanted, so I have a lengthy list for comparison!
