Unfortunate Outcome - Permanent Nerve Damage On The Left Side Of My Face
ORIGINAL POST
Unfortunate Outcome
My surgery outcome with Dr. Prysi left me with permanent nerve damage on the left side of my face. I was told along the way during recovery that my crooked smile and movement issues on the left side of my face were very common(which I later learned was not true) and were due to an irritated nerve from surgery. After Months of healing and prednisone twice, they kept telling me to be patient and that Dr Prysi has never had a patient end up with permanent nerve damage. After several months into the nerve
"healing" I developed an abnormal movement in that left side of my face (when I close my left eye it pulls that side of my mouth up). I contacted Dr. Prysi and sent a video. He asked me to come in so he could see it in person. Right when he walked into the room and without even asking to see it, he told me I had it prior to surgery and just didn't notice. I left devastated and scheduled an appointment with a respected Neurologist. That doctor explained to me that Dr. Prysi cut a nerve during the surgery and that the left side droopiness and abnormal movement is a result of the nerve being cut and that it will never completely recover or be the same.
