Something is off - Staying Away
Something is definitely off with this doctor and his staff. His prices have increased drastically within the last year (I was quoted less than a year ago a mini face lift starts at $30k and rhinoplasty starts at $9k, and today I was quoted $50k as the starting price for "any skin tightening procedure" and and additional $25k for a rhinoplasty). Also the consultation fee went up to $500 (and for skype consult only - paid in full when booking) when less than a year ago it was $400, of which only $200 had to be paid when booking. Oh and the soonest skype consult isnt until March of next year, 5 months out! ($500 for a skype appointment 5 months from now and you want me to pay now?!)
When I asked when he will be doing in person consults again, she insincerely blamed covid and said there is just no telling when that will be. I totally get being safe about covid, but her whole tone of voice changed to what it sounds like when someone is showing fake empathy. It was really over the top. And if he can be giving people their botox injections without any problems, I dont see why he wont do any in-person consultations for what I was quoted for a $75k "starting price" surgery. If I can go to the nail salon, get a massage, and go to my regular doctors appointments, he can do in-person consults especially if he is charging $500 for them.
The receptionist kept repeating herself like a robot, as if scripted and completely expecting an adverse reaction to the extremely high prices, "because he is a world renowned plastic surgeon who as appeared in X, Y, Z Magazines..." She must have said that 3 times during our call, when I never questioned his credentials at all. I told her I had a healthy $50k budget for the 2-3 facial procedures I wanted done (neck tighening, rhinoplasty, and possible liplift), but it seemed like with Dr. Jacono it would cost upwards of $100k even though I am a young patient with very minor work to be done? And she repeats herself "Well yes, he is a world renowned plastic surgeon who has celebrity clients and been in this magazine and that magazine...." Then when I said, "Oh, ok so he only wants to work with celebrities and multi-millionaires and billionaires?" she just repeats herself again, "he is world renowned surgeon and those are his prices...". It seemed her only goal during the phone call was to turn me away. It was very strange. There is no way people are paying him $100k for procedures they can get with other equally skilled and experienced NYC doctors for a fraction of that.
Something is definitely off - and I am going to listen to my gut. Especially after reading all of his negative reviews on here. I am steering clear of him and his script reading staff.
