A lot of my sagging face and neck have returned

ORIGINAL POST

Facelift Fail

$15,000
In 2020, I lost a lot of weight. My face and neck began to sag. I saved money for a facelift and fat transfer. I began looking for a surgeon to do the procedure. Dr. Greenberg seemed confident and knew all the answers to my concerns and questions. I was so excited. I had the procedure in late 2022 after years of saving money by July of 2023 a lot of my sagging face and neck have returned. To say I’m devastated is an understatement. Learn from me, go to a doctor who specializes in one area of the body.

So sorry that you didn't have things work out but thank you for posting this <3 I think it's very common where the results of facelifts are temporary and this isn't readily discussed! Have you spoken to your surgeon about possibilities? I feel they should stand by their work for at least 2 years.
I was told facelifts last 10+ years. For $15,000 I would hope the results were not temporary. I have not spoken to the doctor, when I asked for an appointment with him the medical assistant was who showed up.
I cannot express how sorry I am for this poor outcome of the surgery. I completely understand you because I myself went through a very unpleasant situation after my facelift and necklift surgery where I experienced necrosis, half of my face was paralyzed and in addition I look very bad aesthetically because now I have big scars and my skin hangs and my neck is sagging and relaxed, much more than yours, I have bags on my double chin now. I can understand your disappointment and sincerely hope that you will be able to improve your appearance with another surgeon.
Hi,
I read that facial fat graft can be somewhat unpredictable and a couple of studies that show that it goes through cycles. At first it will have volume, midway it depletes, then fills again. Hopefully this is the case and what is causing the sagging, and might get better.

I don’t know if I can add link but these were results of study. “Results: At the 1- to 2-month follow-up period, average facial volume was 49.60% of the initial fat injected. At the 18- to 24-month follow-up period, average facial volume was 73.64% of the initial fat injected, indicating an increase in midfacial volume. Upon graphing available photometric data, dynamic changes in facial volume were observed. In 5 midfacial zones, facial volume appeared to initially decline (average decline, 49.0% of original fat injection), troughing at 10 months (range, 2-15 months), but later inclined (average increase in volume, 95.9% of original fat injection), peaking around 16 months (range, 4-24 months).“. study : progressive improvement in midfacial volume 18-24 months after simultaneous fat grafting and facelift.
That is so disappointing for you, I’m due for my procedure in 2 weeks having also spent the past year saving up. I would be very unhappy and sad after such an invasive procedure and recovery not to mention the expense. I just pray I have good results. As my surgeon was surprisingly affordable and I can’t say that he actually specialises in FL’s. I think he may just be a general type surgeon, so I’m hoping scarring is minimal also because I can be critical of such things. At least I think if it looked natural I would be happy. But under done won’t cut it for me. I can’t believe you paid so much to this surgeon. For such poor results. Frightening!
