Run...don't walk!!

I have waited 7 months to write this review. I was very excited to finally get a blepharoplasty to get rid of my "hooded eyes". I thought I had chosen an amazing doctor...Dr. Jonathan Sykes. I had my eyes first done in his office at my dermatologist with local anesthesia in November of 2018. I was back to work in a week with my glasses hiding most of the scarring. I kept waiting for my eyes to look better, but I never really noticed any difference. The eye "hoods" were still there. I then decided to have a neck lift and went back to Dr. Sykes, except this time in his office a Roseville Facial Plastic Surgery. He told me he couldn't do just a neck lift, but had to incorporate that in to a lower facelift. I told him I would do that, but I also wanted my eyes redone, as I honestly expected better results. He also recommended a lower eyelet as well. So...the lower face/neck lift, another blepharoplasty and lower eye lid procedure was performed in mid June of this year. I had also told him that I had a very important event at the end of August and he guaranteed that I would look "fabulous". After the surgery, I had three immediate follow up appointments, one of which was with his associate Dr. Kiener as Dr. Sykes was not there. I expressed my concerns to Dr. Kiener about the sides of my face and about the big lump under my neck, but Dr. Kiener patted the underside of my neck, looked at my "concerns" and told me "you won't have to live with that". After speaking with Dr. Kiener, I felt a little more comfortable that all of these "concerns" would eventually go away. I had a few appointments with Sykes after that who, when I expressed my concerns about the skin folds around my eyes, told me "well the skin had to go somewhere"." I told him my worry about the big lump in my lip and he proceeded to put his finger in my mouth, ungloved. Not once, but twice! I also showed him the big hunk of skin behind my ear. By the end of August, when I was supposed to look "fabulous" and now 7 months later, all of my concerns are still very visible. I have seen another plastic surgeon and have scheduled basically a "revision" surgery to fix what Dr. Jonathan Sykes did to me. I would not even consider going back to Sykes to seek restitution or corrective surgery because of the poor treatment, lack of concern and I no longer trust his surgical skills. I have attached current 7 month post-procedure pictures of Dr. Sykes "handiwork" as evidence. My experience with Dr. Jonathan Sykes left me extremely disappointed, disillusioned and emotionally and physically scarred.

I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience. Thanks for sharing it with our community. Let us know how your revision surgery goes when you have it.

I will do. The surgery is scheduled for July and with Dr. Toft in Roseville.

You have fortitude and resilience. When I read reviews here where things have not gone well, I always worry when the lady - either by financial necessity or misguided hope- returns to the same surgeon. In my view, if a result is a botched surgery as a opposed to an u expected complication which can happen to ANY surgeon, then, like you so emphatically state- Run, don't walk.. In your case, of course the cost will hurt- but, if I were in your situation- I would do EXACTLY the same. Pfuffing about with litigation just prolongs the agony- cut losses and fix ! Thank you for sharing. Have you found anew surgeon? Who is it and when will you have surgery?

Yes I have found a highly recommended surgeon and will have the corrective surgery completed in July. Thank you.
