I’m 61.

genuinely don’t know how to best describe my experience with Mr Awf Quaba. Apart from being of the nicest people I have ever met - this talented man is quite simply an aesthetic genius with a superb eye for balance and form. I am 61 years old and the last ten years have been pretty hard on my face. Latterly, I have noticed progressively hollow cheeks, sunken eye sockets and temples, a banded, scraggy neck and very visible signs of skin ageing. For years I have been unhappy, as I look much older than my years and to my horror, was once mistaken for my husbands mother! Having been in the airline industry all my life until retirement, I suppose I was considered mildly attractive in my youth. I have found the natural process of ageing to be very difficult. Vain it may be, but it impacts on all areas of life when you no longer recognise the face you see in the mirror. I thought long and hard about having surgery, knowing the risks and the costs were not insignificant . I was very worried about the risks of having elective surgery at my age and on on the morning of admission I was a nervous wreck. However, Mr Quaba assured me, with a reassuring hand on the shoulder, that I was in very safe hands.

And I was. Just a few days after surgery I am literally transformed. I look like me, but I also look as if I am in my thirties. I had Coleman fat transfer to mid cheeks, temples and tear troughs, and a lower face and neck lift. I am aware that as the swelling goes down and the fat graft settles over the next few months the results may not always be so fresh and youthful, but I intend to fully look after myself, eating a nutritious diet etc in order to take care of the new me and prolong this gift for as long as I can. I had a textbook recovery with no pain, and minimal swelling and bruising. Throughout the process from start to finish Mr Quaba could not have been more honest, informative and utterly professional. He took my concerns seriously, he made me feel safe, comfortable and exited about what he could achieve. The office team, Janey, Danielle and the rest of the team were incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. Indeed, my complete experience of the medical team while in hospital, including anaesthetist and nursing staff (Vanessa) was exemplary. ( I do also have to mention the other non medical spects of Spire hospital were unfortunately not so great.)

I feel incredibly lucky and grateful to have been able to have access to a skilled, artful and careful surgeon like Mr Awf Quaba. Nothing is ever guaranteed, and I was nervous about the procedure but I genuinely cannot find the words to fully express how thrilled and happy I am with the outcome. It has done wonders for my self confidence, my mental health, and has changed my life.
