Thoroughly Professional

I am writing this review as I have been a patient of Dr Hodgkinson for a few years now. I first saw Dr Hodgkinson at his Double Bay rooms and Surgical Clinic in 2019.

I had three procedures done by Dr Hodgkinson. The first procedure was a full facelift. The second procedure was removal of pectoral implants and a subsequent gynecomastia surgery to remove excess kin and tissue from the chest. The third procedure was incidental to the full facelift and was a blepharoplasty which was the removal of a small amount of skin from each other eyelid.

I have to say that getting plastic surgery is not a small decision as I found out. There is a lot of press around different procedures. And a lot of opinions out there.

I but I found Dr Hodgkinson to be a thoroughly professional surgeon. He is the opposite of all of the Cowboys that you see floating around on social media. Dr Hodgkinson presents himself as a true surgeon and his standards are as high as you would find in any major teaching hospital. The experience is the same as if you were seeing a Consultant Surgeon at St Vincent’s Hospital for example.

Dr Hodgkinson‘s clinic at Double Bay in Sydney is an accredited surgical centre. And he employs a full surgical, consult, and after-care team. Every person I dealt with at the clinic had the highest standards. And the reception team is incredibly helpful, client focused, and very knowledgeable.

Discussing the surgery with Dr Hodgkinson, getting ready for the surgery, and coming in on the day of surgery were all incredibly professional and hassle free events. The surgery in my case did not go without complications. I but that is the nature of any surgery with any surgeon.

I was actually more impressed with Dr Hodgkinson due to the way he handled the unforeseen complications. It did mean that I needed to go back and have a second and third small revision surgeries six months later, but I’d rather have a surgeon who identified complications and had a plan to deal with them, than see a surgeon who tried to cover-up any complications.

So, it’s two years down the track now. What advice would I give to somebody who was looking to get a major cosmetic surgical procedure?

Firstly, seeing Dr Hodgkinson would be a good first step. Even if you don’t select him as your surgeon, Dr Hodgkinson will be able to give you an even-handed and very realistic view on your propose surgery. It doesn’t cost that much to see him initially.

Secondly, I think it’s really important for anybody considering major cosmetic surgery to realise that it will take a fairly long time for scars to resolve and heal fully. Everyone is different. And after two years my facial scars have faded to almost being invisible. At the first six months after surgery I certainly felt self-conscious.

Thirdly, I think anybody considering major cosmetic surgery should go in with the opinion that they may need the first surgery and then possibly subsequent refining surgery. That’s not everybody obviously. But it was the case for me.

So. My surgery experience wasn’t an In and Out affair. There was subsequent surgery required. But I can’t find a single bad thing to say about Dr Hodgkinson and his staff. They have incredibly high standards and work as a great team.
