My neck area and my upper eyelids showed no improvement

On 12/05/2018 I met with Dr. Stephen Weber, D, FACS at his clinic, 10463 Park Meadows Drive Suite 110, Lone Tree, Con80124. At that time, I paid $15,041.00 for Face and Necklift-In Office, Blepharoplasty-Upper and Lower. The procedure was done on 12/17/2018.

At my six week appointment I told Dr. Weber that I was not satisfied with the results. My neck area and my upper eyelids showed no improvement and/or change. My face was not tight like I expected it to be. My lower eyelids were the only area that was done satisfactorily. Dr. Weber agreed and told me that he would redo my neck and upper lids again in May, but not my face. That would give my face time to heal some more before enduring another surgery. In May I got cold feet and decided that I did not want Dr. Weber cutting on my face again. If he did not do it right the first time, I had my doubts about his ability to do it correct the second time.

I sent Dr. Weber a letter explaining that since the procedure was only completed 50%, and I did not want to go forth, but I would like to have 50% of my money back. I waited for a couple of months and did not hear back. I phoned the office and requested a call back from the doctor. Shortly thereafter I heard from Jenny Helms, his insurance representative. Jenny Helms explained to me that if I had just spoken with the doctor, he might have been able to consider my request. But since I had put it in writing, it became an insurance issue. That when a doctor pays or gives back any money it is reported to some board and it can effectively prevent him from being eligible to work at/on certain places. Jenny said that The Doctors Company (the insurance company) would be handling all further communications.

In my letter to Dr. Weber, I stated that I believed that the healing process began at the first incision and that I was not happy that he and his staff kidded around, joked and laughed at my expense while I was drugged up and incoherent. The conversation stemmed around everyone going skiing but I was not going to be able to go with them. I was agitated and anxious due to this conversation they were having at my expense. It was like comic relief with the doctor doing standup to amuse and entertain his staff. They were all laughing at my anxiety and stress. The nurse told me all about it the next day when I went in to have some stitches removed. I expected to be treated with calm compassion and maybe soft music in the background. Instead it was like one of those You-Tube videos that are taken when someone is doped up after a dental procedure.

Jenny Helms advised me that they had had an independent doctor review all the paperwork and found nothing wrong and therefore, the file was closed on their side. When I asked Jenny Helms what next? She said that Dr. Weber would not redo the procedure, so if I did not get a lawyer it was over.

I did receive the report that was sent to an independent surgeon for review and evaluation. In the report, Dr. Weber stated that my vital signs were taken. They were not. I could have had a raging fever or my blood pressure could have been sky high. Another issue was the doctor’s recommendation to drive myself home. He gave examples of patients doing so. I could not imagine trying to drive in my drugged condition. He does not treat his surgeries any more serious than a dental extraction. Although, I have been treated with more respect and professionalism from my dentist than from this surgeon. Dr. Weber was very unprofessional, disrespectful and incompetent.

I am considering filing criminal charges against this person. Also will be reporting him to CO Medical Board, as well as American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery - AAFPRS, American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery - AAO - NHS and American College of Surgeons - ACS, assuming his memberships are active there of course. I'd advise you to file official report at the very least with the CO medical board. At some point board will be obligated to do official investigation, so I'm hoping people are doing the right things for it to happen.

The “medical assistants “ appear to be running the practice. After I paid $7000 for surgery, he ceased to exist afterwards. I endured a laser treatment by a “ medical assistant “ who had no idea how to use it!

Have you reported this to the medical board and/or plastic surgery boards he belongs to?
I'm preparing to do so myself. It's helpful to have multiple official reports like that. Eventually they are obligated to start an actual investigation. So may loose his license.

I’m not sure my complaint meets the criteria for reporting to board. I’ve found the office staff to be unprofessional and I just want to be done with my post op appointments. I have some additional appointments for laser to the scar on my face. I really scared to get someone who seems inept even though they may be qualified. I did send in a review to Realself and waiting to see if it gets posted.
