Consultation review: Not for Me

ORIGINAL POST

Not for Me

Cannot speak to the work.

I went for a quote for a mini facelift for the jowls. He of course suggested a brow lift as another procedure, as those in plastics do.

End quote was $15,600. When looked further a couple days later, I saw the quote was for a full facelift. When asked about this and they said that he indicated “to achieve the results I want, I would need a full facelift”. Here’s the thing. I went in for jowls. So how did the results “I”want turn into a full facelift and brow lift? I do not want to post a pic of myself here, but I assure you, I don’t need a full facelift, or a doctor who sells it as a mini and charges a full. Just didn’t sit well. Also, I know most charge consultation fees. But they didn’t inform me. I expected it thankfully.

At my consultation I complained of sags and bags. A lower lift was done and 5 months later jowls were back. I paid $15k for just the lower. It was a complete waste of money.
its a shame some Surgeons feel the need to upsell all the time... My suggestion would be to go for a second opinion. Maybe look though here at reviews of surgeons in your area for ones that other people rate highly. There are many ethical ones around.
Yes get a second opinion, my plastic surgeon did not push anything on me. The only comment I have in defense of this doctor is sometimes the patients expectations are greater than possible for what procedures they are asking. For example I wanted to get rid of marionette lines when I had my lower facelift and my doctor told me that they would improve but they wouldn't fully go away. So you really have to listen to what the doctor is saying to avoid dissatisfaction in the end. As for my results it's only been a month but I am very pleased. Just some swelling under my chin but I think all the swelling has gone done. I hope so because I like what my cheeks look like now...lol
a full lower face/neck tightens the tissue from the neck up into the lower face. a mini lift is only a skin flap lift, and it's for the earliest signs of aging, for a patient who's perhaps 35 to 45, or for someone who's lost a lot of weight and has excess skin they want removed. it doesn't tighten the smas, which is what people with more facial aging need. the reality is there are likely surgeons who will agree to a mini lift but you may pay for surgery that may not get you what you want. a basic mini lift can price at 10k surgery fee. you may save the hospital o.r. and anesthesia costs if it's done in-office using lidocane, but will likely still need a full lower face/neck lift in a year or two
This makes sense. I’m fine with that. Must wish that he had taken time and explained that to me and not tack on a brow lift. The moneys fine.
I've had 2 consults with 2 different licenced certified cosmetic surgeons here in Mexico for a lower facelift with neck. Both doctors said the jowls would be tightened but maybe not as much as I liked because I would look ,"pulled" not "natural". Price from both $4000
Thanks!
