Negative Experience
I chose Dr. Terry Dubrow because he was very personable during my consultations, and because he is featured on the television show Botched, I believed I was in experienced hands.
In January 2025, I underwent a lower face and neck lift along with an upper blepharoplasty. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing. I believe too much skin was removed from my upper eyelids, leaving them hollow and preventing my eyes from closing completely. I now deal with daily dryness and discomfort and have ongoing concerns about the long-term health of my eyes.
In October 2025, I underwent revision surgery with another surgeon, including fat grafting to my eyelids, in an attempt to improve the hollowness. While it helped somewhat, it has not restored my eyelids to their previous appearance or corrected all of the issues.
The lower face and neck lift also left me feeling overly tight and pulled. Since then, I have consulted with several respected board-certified facial plastic and oculoplastic surgeons. I was told that correcting these problems is very complex, and some of the changes may not be fully reversible.
I was unable to pursue a medical malpractice claim because California requires these cases to be filed within one year of surgery, and by the time I fully understood the extent and permanence of the complications, that deadline had passed.
I am sharing my experience so that others can make a fully informed decision. Every patient’s experience is different, but I believe it is important to understand both the potential benefits and the potential risks before undergoing elective cosmetic surgery.
