WORTH IT
I had been wanting a lower facelift and neck lift for several years before I got up the nerve to actually schedule surgery after my 58th birtyday; my issue was what many women have an issue with: sagging jawline and "turkey" neck (I hate that metaphor, but it fits). I also made a last-minute decision to add nose tip refinement to the surgery. Based on all the excellent reviews of Dr. Delgado, particularly of his artistry and natural results, as well as recommendations from friends, I scheduled surgery with Dr. Delgado. I am so happy that I made this decision! Dr. Delgado is reflective, insightful, knowledgeable and experienced, and he is confident without being egoistic. He also knows how to really listen.
The staff is very professional and solicitous. The patient coordinator, Chelsie, is a gem. She is quick to respond to questions or concerns. And the surgery nurses are the BEST. The surgery center itself, with its big windows and location right next to the main office, feels less forbidding than most surgery facilities.
I had expected recovery to be unpleasant, and felt that I was prepared, but I guess I would say it was a little harder than I thought — kind of like being stuck on an airplane for a really, really long flight in that I was just uncomfortable and a little claustrophobic waiting for the recovery process to be over. I looked forward to post-op visits and removal of sutures, as well as the check-ins with Dr. Delgado as markers of my progress.
It is now about 7 weeks out from my surgery, and I am so happy — and kind of entranced by the magic Dr. Delgado performed, actually. The incision lines are so thin and neat. I can tell they will be nearly invisible down the road. All the sagging is gone, and I can feel firm support under my chin. And my nose looks so much better, but I don't think anyone can see exactly what is different. I feel much more confident about my appearance, honestly. I look younger, less tired. I am looking forward to wearing turtleneck sweaters this winter.
