I will be having a facelift, neck lift, and dermabrasion on Aug 31. I scheduled it with Hedden Plastic Surgery and am having "buyers remorse", guilt, and numerous other feelings. I need my friends here to ease my mind and help me through this process. I had a tummy tuck a few years ago and there's no way I would have made it without this wonderful place. Dr LaBarbera is doing my surgery and if anyone has any experience with him I would love to hear about it. I've been reading about a shake that you guys are drinking after surgery, I need to know about that. Let's be this party started!!!

I have decided to have rhinoplasty too. I just know I won't be able to enjoy everything else I'm having done and have to look at this horrific nose. Might as well get it done while I'm under. These pictures are terrible but make me more excited for my procedures. Three weeks tomorrow we leave for Bham!!!!!! Can't wait'!!!! Anyone that has gone through necklift, facelift and rhinoplasty please fill me in. ????

You are gonna do it all in one go, good for you. Recovery will be longer, but the results will be fabulous, for sure. Keep posting, I'm going in about a week after you for my procedure.

Only one week????
Bama59August 24, 2017
A week from yesterday I have my consultation with my doctors. And then hopefully this time next week I will be in surgery. This past week has flown by and I'm getting a little panicky because I'm not sure I have everything I need or everything I need to get done, done. Any suggestions for what I'll need would be greatly appreciated.

What does the rhino add to the cost?

Did you see a lot of photos (forward facing which is necessary to see straightness). His website has several photos all taken from the profile angle alone. The one (male) face forward is slightly crooked post op. Just wondering.

Not sure what your recovery arrangements are but I had a wonderful caretaker watching over me. Before I went to the hospital I setup my electric recliner with one long pillow (body pillow) on the back of it and 2 regular queen size pillows for each side of me. I coffee table next to the recliner to keep my drinks, remote control, cell phone etc. I had 4 small packs of frozen peas in the freezer and a stack of thin clothes to wrap them in for icing my face however by the 2nd day I was getting nauseous from the smell of them so I switched to gel packs, I wish I had bought the ice mask I saw online I think that would have been easier to manage. I made a schedule for my medication that had to be taken so it was easy for my caretaker to administer. I had my surgery on Wednesday so I put "Wednesday afternoon 1 of this pill 2 of this pill" I did that for three times a day for the day of surgery and the first five days. I stocked up on low sugar high protein food to eat. I bought protein shakes so I could sip on them instead of having to eat anything and kept them in the fridge. I made sure I bought baby shampoo and had my facial cleanser in the shower. I used my anti bacterial soap to shower with for the first week because I had fat transfer done from my stomach. My caregiver made sure that I got up every couple of hours and walked for 10 to 15 minutes, went to the bathroom etc. It is important for healing to get up and move. You can read my review and see what else I did but those are the key things I remember.

Oh yeah, and if you bruise ... once the bruising is a couple of days old start putting heat on them. Since I slept in the recliner the bulk of my swelling went down in a few days. I drank Tumeric Tea and ate cinnamon up until the surgery not knowing that they are both blood thinners. That caused a lot of bruising but once I started putting heat on the bruises 3 or 4 times a day they healed very quickly. I went back to work 2 weeks post op and only had to wear makeup to cover them up for 2 days then went back to no foundation.

Thanks Bama! Yours will be too. During the first couple of weeks you will question whether this was all worth it (we all do) but just keep your eye on the prize. When the healing is done you will say it really wasn't that bad. Everyone says I look 40 instead of 60! I am very happy with the results, the process, my doctor everything. It is interesting that everyone asks me if I would do it again I tell them "IN A HEARTBEAT". Best decision I ever made. I now look like I feel. Someone said to me "what about the pain or the cost" my response is "I have a really high tolerance for pain so I didn't take any pain meds at all and it cost less than it would to remodel a kitchen and people don't hesitate to spend money doing that".
If you start questioned if you did the right thing then go onto Real Self and start reading reviews and looking at pictures. I went from a swollen mess to presentable in 2 weeks. That is crazy considering it was an 6 hour surgery. By this time next week you will be on the other side and heading toward a new and more beautiful you!

I remember thinking it was frivolous spending and I shouldn't be so vain but then I realized how I don't even hesitate spending that much money on a home renovation project, why wouldn't I spend it on an old face renovation. lol!
I too had very little pain (I do have a very high pain tolerance though) and I only took 2 weeks off from work. I went back with bruising that I covered with foundation for 2 days and then didn't need it anymore. I am amazed at how fast we heal from such a drastic surgery. 2 weeks to recover from a 6 hour surgery was pretty fast in my opinion. Now I understand that my face is still healing and won't be fully healed until 6 months but the majority of it is already healed and anyone that did not know me before would have no idea that I had any surgery at all.
I wish you good luck and a speedy recovery.
