Reviews you can trust, from real people like you.
How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

Now or Never. Multi Level Facelift

I have had a few non-invasive procedures, Sculptra, fillers and Botox, but they can only do just so much especially when you're 70. I have been lurking around Real Self for a few years and decided to just bite the bullet and start in earnest looking for a good doctor especially since a lot of us are housebound and can wear a mask. My jowls are genetic and I had the Deputy Dawg look.
I contacted a few doctors in the Bay Area but they were either too far away or starting fees for a face lift were out of my comfort zone.
I chose Dr. Lavey because of his outstanding qualifications, reviews and an extra bonus was that his office is a 5 minute drive from my home. His office is tasteful and peaceful. Front desk, Mariah, is a lovely young lady.
He does charge a fee for a consultation but he also spends as much unhurried time with you and takes your personal medical history himself. I think what really sold me is when he asked if I could remove my mask and then studied my face. I told him I did not want anything done with my eyes. He did ask if he could feel the skin on my lower and upper eyelids and I must have passed the skin test. He also asked me to grimace and suggested a neck lift along with some liposuction. He says all face lifts are different. It is not a one size fits all (my words). He does not use staples because he thinks they look Frankensteinish and also uses outside removable sutures because dissolvable may leave railroad track lines.
I returned the next day to have the head dressing and drain removed, and said that I could wash my hair if I chose. I did. He wanted me to ice my face as much as possible, sleep on a wedge pillow and use Bacitracin on the incisions. I came back to the office a week later to have the stitches removed.
Here are a few pictures. I will post monthly results as it is ever-changing and as noted in other reviews it can take up to a year to see final results.
Thanks to all of the brave ladies who have posted photos Every person's recovery rate is different and having this forum has helped tremendously with any angst that I might have had if I had not known what to expect.
